  1. Trip to the Columbia Icefield in Jasper National Park today. 710km (438 miles) round trip. Averaged 49.8 mpg (Imp Gal). Seat was great, can't complain about a seat that's still comfortable after 438 miles. Left side shown for the exhaust needs.
  2. Very nice bike! Just rebuilt the carbs on mine this spring, all new ethanol resistant parts. Refurbished Corbin seat too. Mine has a left exit exhaust, 4-1 by Sandy Bike Spares, not sure if they're still around. It was terrible when I got it, but with a lot of cutting, grinding and re-welding, it produced 97hp at the rear wheel with a modified airbox and jets.
  3. Just thought I'd share photos of my bike with it's new seat. I found an old and seriously decaying Corbin seat on FleaBay for not much. Got it to Carriage Upholstery in Lacombe, AB and they refurbished it and re-covered it for me. It started attracting comments as soon as I put it on. Looks pretty nice and is fairly comfortable. Long ride into the mountains on Sunday, so I'll know how comfortable it is for a full day of riding soon enough. Stew
  4. Thanks fellas, either one is good for me. I keep just looking at it and wondering how my beat up track bike looks so good!
  5. Should have been a stock colour though, it suits the Veefer really well.
  6. Thanks for the comments guys. It's not a stock colour for a '93, it's a Goldwing colour. I think they put it on the 800 VTEC one year (2001 or 2002?) but that's it.

    Back again

My RC36 in her third incarnation since 1993. This time due to careless shippers and/or customs warehouse staff.

Post shipping resto and prep for import inspection.

    Shipping damage

Moved from UK back to Canada. This is what arrived!
  10. And here I was wondering how I'd turn my RC36 into a RC45 clone. Just get an RC30 frame and get building. Brilliant, just don't tell my wife.

Beauty! I'll take it. I could probably explain that one away to my banker too (better half). Stew
  13. Here's my 'Almost Done' RC36. Just going to put Racetech Gold comp and rebound valves in the forks, change the spring spacer length for more preload, add some crash bungs and put in a Factory Pro shift kit and I'll call her done. Therefore, I'm going to need another idea to mull over for a few months while I finish up my Land Rover restoration. I'm thinking of an RC36a based track bike that ends up looking something like one of these: My initial idea includes: CBR1000RR or R1 front end (investigating triple clamp options at the moment) RC45 track plastics CBR 929 rear shock (like the one in my RC36) Thurn tail lift kit Raise and move back rear-set with remote change (CBR600 or similar) Durbhan style airbox with cold air intake modded tank Crash bungs etc I'll replace the iron girders that make up the current rear subframe with a proper thin-wall round tube frame (I enjoy light fabrication so may actually do this to my RC36 too). Then when time/cash allows I'll do some engine work too. However, the intial plan is to stick with a stock engine and just go for a sprocket/chain change (+2 on the rear probably). The idea is a reliable track bike that I can use to learn to ride properly (I end up holding back on my current bike because it's my daily rider). I don't want a CBR/R1/GSXR as they have no soul and I love the V4 engine. Having a VFR that starts every time, runs hard and keeps coming back (52k miles and rising) has convinced me that I should stick with the same bike/engine for my track bike. I can use the same tools/paddock stand/etc on both and transitioning from one to the other will be easier (I have a mate with a CBR600RR and a Ducati 749 who bounces off the rev limiter for 5 laps every time he goes from the CBR to the Duc). I'll keep you all posted on any progress and banter/advice is all welcome. I know that the RR in RC36RR is probably a bit much for a 100hp bike but RC36r would look pretty sad. Also, if anyone knows the guy who built the bike below, do you know what the spec is? Is the cold/ram air intake horn setup functional or cosmetic? Stew

    NEXT!!

Next project, RC45 clone track bike.
  15. For anyone who is interested, the left side exhaust is from Sandy Bike Spares in the UK. See my posts about this subject if you're interested but in summary: 1. Avoid their pattern right exit exhaust - horrible bents/joins and virtually impossible to rectify. Go for Predator/Motad. 2. The left exit exhaust has two terrible joins where the front downpipes meet the rear but other than that is a pretty good bit of kit. It's relatively easy to rectify if you can weld stainless and mine is producing 106.6 fwhp (97.1 rwhp) with this exhaust. The welding is nice and neat throughout and the sound is awesome (spud in or out). Stew
