  1. Welll the forks are all together but I got to thinking today.. I didnt check to see if the VFR or F4 damper tubes were the same length.. As I just put the VFR Damp valves inside the complete F4 cartridge.. Unfortunately im back on the road too and Kevin Kwr8728 is supposed to go measure and add fork oil.. Does anyone know If the cartridge length is the same between the 2.. Im thinking the Vfr cartridge may be longer and I should have only used the Reb valves and dampening rod from the F4 and put them into the VFR cartridges ? ? ? ? ?. Gonna be 3 weeks before I can check myself.. This iss gonna drive me nuts..
  2. Almost Halfway thru but I have to run to Lowes and get some PVC to cut new spacers.. The Throttle side is done except for the spacer.. Remove wheel, Inside bottom of fork is this Allen Bolt, Be sure to have a bucket under it.. Mine didnt leak till I loosened the fork Cap.. You can then remove the VFR fork cartridge.. Here are all the parts inorder laid out.. You must remove a small C-Clip to get the Comp valves out of the VFR fork. F4I fork cartridge with VFR comp Valves all back together.. I started out not removing the forks but ran into a snag. Some washers I was using were just a hare big also there is a Silver end cap for the cartridge that fell donw to the bottom of the fork. They were actually very easy to remove... The one on the throttle side is almost ready to go back in.. Install is just reverse of removal.. Still not sure what Im gonna do about fork oil.. I have a quart of 5wt and 1 10wt quart. I could reuse the old stuff but I noticed when it was draining it had some water in it (brown/grey milky color) but not much.. Also I dont have a fork oil guage.. This also brings up another question HOW MUCH Fork OIL.. do I use the F4I measurement or the VFR ? Maybe I can get KWR to make a road trip with his fork oil guage ?
  3. Thanks BR.. The F4I internals arrived today... I may start breaking the forks down tonite or in the morning.. They came in while I was out for the wknd in Hotsprings,Nc
  4. I have been thinking the same Actually But not the part of swapping a shim or 2.. I looked on racetechs site for shim stack #'s but it seems you must have a access code good for 1 time only.. Isnt the stock OEM fork oil in a VFR 10 Wt ? Another good ? does anyone know the actual flow differences between the f4I and VFR cOmp/Reb valves.. That would really make things easy huh... Or where to find them.. Thanks for the info so far BR and HS.... anyone else got anything to Add ?
  5. I plan to do the F4I Internals Mod on the forks of my VFR and looking for what weight Fork oil to try or to start with. Sugestions Please... sorry if this post seems long but I figure set up and the reason for wanting to do this Mod would help those giving answers/sugestions.. I would really like to hear from those who have done this Mod.. And what Weight fork oil you used. How does it feel, along with what surface types seem to be a issue still.. Reason for change.. When I was at Barber Motorsports a few weeks ago I had a very bad pogo feeling along 1 of the strait aways, Also it got worse as the day went on. Also I get the same pogo feeling on a few short stretches of area roads. Bridge drop offs feel very abrupt also but the comp side feels as if it is soaking it all up very well.. Current Bike setup.. 1.0kg sonic springs in OEM forks (All Stock) 18kg rear spring W/ CBR600F4I Rear shock. Rear shock Lengthened 3/8-+ inches for a total ride height increase of 1.5" (Cant go any higher with OEM parts) Note the rear feels very compliant on any surface condition I have ever found.. Future Mod.. I plan to use the OEM Comp valve for the vFR with the OEM F4I rebound valve. has any one else done this and what weight oil do you sugest or did you Use.. And for the Suspension Guru's on here what oil Weight would you suggest be used or to start with.... Thanks.. My head feels like a yoyo doing the pogo trying to figure out the best guess for this.. sO thanks for your time and Knowledge..
  6. Yup. I'm talking about Ron's over farkled, shock. Got my'n dialed in, (sag), yesterday. 30 curve at 82. My best to record, yet. Thank's Sam I'll search his posts. (Kind of a bitch, with over 8,000, now). LOL. Any search tips? Search tips.... With that post Ho... He didnt start the topic I know that... LOL :fing02: You could search for stock shock length then go from there also... More rear ride hiegth = faster turnin I guess I should have written mine down the other day when I installed a F4 shock but didnt. I just put enough washers in it till the threads of the bolt just went thru the Nut... Note.. When you put the heavier springs in the front Im sure it raised the front from what your friend is used to.. So Turn-in is going to be a bit slower automatically (maybe) Kinda a trial n error.. Get that New-to-you Abs sprung for your weight n if you havent (? Not sure?) front springs You;ll love it..
  7. Skuuter Trash posted the Stock ride height of his Untouched RWB in a thread a week or 2 ago.. Unless the shock is Height adjustable All you need to do is set sag.. Note If you dont have a MM tape measure 28-30mm is around 1 1/8 inches -+..
  8. I too have wondered this myself... If I know im slower than another I will Hug the right side andwave them by on a strait... Another time I just quietly Sneaked up thru the pack using stop lights and extra lanes till I got in behind the few that were faster... Seemed to be a bit of a gap right in the middle of the group.. So that was where i stayed the rest of the ride.. Not sure if it was right or wrong.. The Gap between consisted most of the day between me n the 5 riders behind me as I stayed with the faster riders.... So i guess if there isnt a designated signal then patience on the side of safety... Note.. Most of the group was not riding in formation either which made it easier and was mentioned later that day by several in the group.. 11 riders total..
  9. I hope you n your other Buddies had a talk with him agter the cop was Done.... Never pass in a corner.. Or atleast I dont..
  10. +1 but i do 1 or 2 things a little different here.. Be it right or wrong to me its safer see edits above.. Sorry just thought i needed to add those as some may think it's a little obvious but the goal is to return home safe every time..
  11. The first oil change my bike got I put in synthetic.. Made the Vtec transition smoother actually.. I dont think it will harm it..
  12. +1 Im upgrading my suspension as I type.. F4 rebuilt/sprung rear shock... As soon as it is ready i will order new front springs n valves.. Didnt like the weeble wobble effect swinging from a left to right curve with no strait to settle the bike on the last Skuuter crawl.. If you watch my video "Skuuter finds the twisties" you will notice the bobble... Right curve then transition to a left i run inside almost blowing the curve from the weeble wobble of the bike between turns... Yikes 1 of my biggest gripes is people blowing corners and i almost did.. And yes i am very used to very twisty roads so that wasnt the issue....

  18. A+ fit n finish lobster. I love mine. That little line down the center you really have to know its there to see it. Also thankyou for the throttlemiester. I had to remove 1 of the thin washers to get a little better hold with it..... Now i can see the cops chasing me instead of looking for there lights flashing around me to see if they are still there
