BiKenG
Sorry to hear about your cold. The cough just keeps hanging around. No it's not the simple lack of a ground wire, using the mounting as the earth return. There are just 2 electrical connections. Nothing else is used and it's not CANBUS either as far as I can tell. I still can't get my head around it.

If you are talking about electrical stuff, I'm the same way. I view it as FM. Frickin' Majik!

Well electrics are no problem and I have designed some simple electronic circuits, but the 2 wire Wheel Speed Sensors defeat me. 😕

Some vehicles (e.g. VFR1200) use 2 wire sensors. With just those 2 wires the control unit supplies power AND reads the pulse. Explain that. 😀 What are we doing here on Christmas Day. All bicycle computers are 2-wire sensors. They are tripped by a magnet attached to the wheel, so that may have something to do with it.
BiKenG
Yes, they would not be powered and simply generate an electromagnetic pulse signal over the 2 wires. 2 wire Hall effect sensors for ABS are a touch more complicated.
JanTheVifferFan
Build one in the dash. It is el cheapo gear-leaver-magnet type but installed with some attention it will works flawless. Exchanged the bulbs for LED in the mean time.
