Flat Lid Panniers for Gen 7

Howesnet

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I got a white VFR 1200F with panniers. I was looking around to get some smaller boxes and i found the attached picture of a Met Police bike with flat pannier lids. I have looked at various pictures from the front and rear and they appear to be genuine boxes and give the bike a slimmer profile.

At the moment, the original panniers come out wider than the mirrors.

Does anyone know if these lids can be obtained in UK, if so, where?

Also, these bikes have reflective detailing on the pannier lids and front mud guard. Does anyone know where i can get those.

I have searched the interweb for both of these and cant find them anywhere.

Any help greatly appreciated

TIA

Only thing I can think of would be to reach out to Honda UK.  They source everything for the police bikes, right?  Might be able to work something from them direct.  Looks like 1-off pieces to me.

I was wondering how they keep from rubbing a hole in the seat cover with the hip holster... The things we notice?

Bloody hell, it's an armed bike police officer in the UK!  There are more and more armed officers here, but that must be one of those special diplomatic escort guys--normal police in the UK are (still) not armed with guns--especially, traffic police would not have guns.

There are a couple of police bike outfitters in the UK.  Honda doesn't make all of the parts they use, so they make some things themselves.  For example, I have a LHS fairing pocket for my ST1300 which has been made to fit a radio, and it is a drop-in replacement for the OEM fairing pocket, made from moulded plastic.  I would think the narrow pannier lids shown in that pic would more likely be Honda parts, though.  Finding the part numbers is a challenge, but once you do, you can order the parts from Honda (they don't generally limit availability of such parts).  For example, the "police" RHS switch pod currently on my RC36 was originally made for the ST1100, and I ordered a brand new one from David Silver Spares (in the UK) once I had discovered the part number.  The ST1300 was available in a special "ST1300P" version, with its own workshop manual and parts catalogue, so if there was a "P" version of the VFR1200, then the part numbers may be contained in the microfiche for that version.

Ciao,
