Member Contributer maxredline Posted February 8, 2016 Member Contributer Share Posted February 8, 2016 Stripped the front end with was a breeze but I have run into a snag. I cant figure out how to separate the fork cartridge. From the information I have you tap the dampening rod down to pop the oil lock cap out. Well I have done this but an afraid to use any more force or heat until I know for sure that there is noting else holding it inplace. input please from those in the know, Thanks

Member Contributer MadScientist Posted February 8, 2016 Member Contributer Share Posted February 8, 2016 Mine have always just pulled right off or remained in the bottom of the fork leg.
Member Contributer Terry Posted February 8, 2016 Member Contributer Share Posted February 8, 2016 Max, the big alloy cap (oil lock piece) on the end of the cartridge is not attached by anything so just tap it off squarely. The compression valve body is under that in the cartridge but secured by a circlip so you can't push the damper rod through to pop the oil lock cap off.
