signal
Today when replacing my front tire, I noticed my right side pinch bolt threads were stripped. I could not put the bolt back on because there were no threads to catch it. So I ended up doing my first helicoil. I got the kit at Advanced Auto Parts. Drilled, tapped, inserted coil, and it works GREAT! I used plenty of cutting oil, and only tapped a few turns at a time, backing out and cleaning it all up. Good as new! SEBSPEED
Good job. Certainly more elegant a solution than a longer bolt with a nut on the end would have been.
Veefer800Canuck
That is the preferred method. The longer bolt and nut is more of a farmer fix, but can be done. And/or drilling out to the next larger size and tapping accordingly, but then you are making the parent material thinner also............
