Member Contributer zoomzoom Posted March 6, 2014 Member Contributer Share Posted March 6, 2014 Hey Anik There was a member on VFRW that replaced his gauge faces with ones just like those in your link. As I recall, he didn't have any real issues with the swap. Check out the link. http://vfrworld.com/forums/showthread.php/44026-New-gauge-faces

Member Contributer zoomzoom Posted April 7, 2014 Member Contributer Share Posted April 7, 2014 Hey v4pilot What is the "0" located in the bottom of your gauge cluster? Is it a gear indicator, or voltmeter perhaps?
v4pilot
Yep it means its in neutral at the moment; I stuck a gear ind. where the neutral light was.

Member Contributer AnikMankar Posted April 15, 2014 Author Member Contributer Share Posted April 15, 2014 These are about 4mm thick. Would require some alterations. Will know only after I take them apart. Have searches around for good pictures of already opened up instruments. Quite difficult. thanks Anik
Member Contributer AnikMankar Posted April 15, 2014 Author Member Contributer Share Posted April 15, 2014 Some progress RPM side. Didn't find any space or a good location for the volt meter. So installed the faceplate as is. Needle stop hole being too big, had to super glue that needle and secured it with some silicon on the rear side. Rpm side completed Speedo side top side has some place Photo copy of the speedometer faceplate helped to create the right stencil and position. The unit underneath is protruding out so had to move the volt meter up by 1mm The faceplate sits on a plastic light defuser. This spreads the light from the bulbs. Marked this plates also as it needs to be cut. Once Marked, masked the area as it needs to be cut off. Used a soldering iron to cut it off found it less messy. Similarly the faceplate had to be cut of. This was tough as it is soft can't file or dremil it. Used a sharp blade There is a slight gap and the light will defuse through the gap. A little black paint and silicon to seal it of. More later. thanks Anik

Member Contributer AnikMankar Posted April 17, 2014 Author Member Contributer Share Posted April 17, 2014 Some more progress.. Noticed the bulb connectors are loose - looks like the printed circuit is worn out making the lights flicker sometimes. Anyone fixed these using electric circuit pens ? any other options besides soldering a fresh circuit on top of it. ?

Member Contributer AnikMankar Posted April 17, 2014 Author Member Contributer Share Posted April 17, 2014 No clue I have rebuilt the circuit using just solder. Hope it works This is how it looks. The end points where the bulb holder stops is pitted hence causing loose contact Got them polished using a polish pen. Polish pen is just like sand paper but in pen style. The tips are fiber Finally got them soldered. Hope it works thanks Anik
