Member Contributer 5thGenJim Posted December 5, 2012 Member Contributer Share Posted December 5, 2012 I'm fighting between these two 2-piece leather suits. Both non-perf, both seemingly good quality. I've owned JR products before, they fit like they say they will and i know the quality is there. But, the Speedmaster suit might be a little too much 'Ricky Racer' for me. Never owned anything AGV but they look good and MG.com says they run a little small JR Speedmaster 5.0: http://www.motorcyclegear.com/street/suits/leather_racing_suits/joe_rocket/speedmaster_5_two_piece_leather_race_suit.html AGV Palomar: http://www.motorcyclegear.com/street/suits/leather_racing_suits/agv_sport/palomar_two_piece_leather_motorcycle_race_suit.html I just don't know. I want to pull the trigger on one of these by end of week. Which way do I go and why?
Member Contributer YoshiHNS Posted December 5, 2012 Member Contributer Share Posted December 5, 2012 Normally I'd say flip a quarter, but might not be the best decision for something like this. Did you own JR leathers before? I think both JR and AGV are pretty similar on quality. Found a review on web bike world on the JR pants http://www.webbikeworld.com/joe-rocket/speedmaster-pants/ Only a review on a one piece AGV Willow suit http://www.webbikeworld.com/r4/agv-sport/agv-sport-willow-suit/
Member Contributer 2thdr Posted December 5, 2012 Member Contributer Share Posted December 5, 2012 I have owned a Joe Rocket GPX Type R leather suit (non-perf, two piece) for several years and it has served me well, but I've never crash-tested it. The leather is thick and substantial. I can't wear it in temps above 75 or so and be comfortable. I have it in black on black and it doesn't look Ricky-Racer to me, but YMMV. I got it from newenough.com before they did the name change... http://www.motorhelm...her-race-suits/ Edit: you may not be able to find this suit anymore... Member Contributer Duc2V4 Posted December 6, 2012 Member Contributer Share Posted December 6, 2012 Before I ended up buying my leathers a friend of mine loaded me his JR two piece (not sure what model) and I can say that the look, feel, fit and quality seemed very good. In fact it was what lead me to buy the JR Alter Ego3 jacket. A few months ago I started looking at non-vented 2 piece suits for the cooler temps and was looking at the AGV and a few others that MG.com have. A few things that kept me from pulling the trigger on most of them was, I know my size and fit quality in Dainese, Alpinestars, and JR but not the other brands I was looking at. Long story short, if you haven't tried any of the make/model suits you are considering, you may find yourself returning the suit due to fit/comfort issues. Although the AGV line is supposed to be good quality stuff, I had no way of knowing how it was going to fit/feel, let alone what size I should start with, so I opted not to go that route. Since you already know the JR line, that may be the way to go, besides the black suit doesn't look that Ricky Racer to me. I have nothing against the AGV suit or company for that matter, I just didn't have a way to try one on first. If that option is available to you, I say try one first, it may be a better deal when all things are considered. Cheers

JR gear is most familiar to me. I'm a little less concerned about the return/replace with MG.com because their exchange policy is awesome - $8.99 to send anything back. I'm leaning towards the JR... the more I look at it, the more I like it (and the less Ricky Racer it looks).
