Member Contributer kwharwood Posted September 13, 2022 Member Contributer Share Posted September 13, 2022 Grum or anyone willing to comment, Could you tell me what the "mystery cable," with eyelet is on top of my airbox and what is suppose to be connected to under the gas tank (see photo)? Gratefully, Kevin in ATL PS If anyone is looking for a "cheaper version" of the Yuasa AGM battery today I purchased a Parts Unlimited AGM battery, at CycleGear, for $105 plus tax. The Yuasa Hi-Performance battery was $230.
Member Contributer Lorne Posted September 13, 2022 Member Contributer Share Posted September 13, 2022 That is a restraining cable, I believe, to prevent one from tilting the fuel tank to far backward. You can just see it in p.3-5 of the service manual, where they also show how to use some of the tool kit to prop up the tank. Frankly, a better prop can be fashioned from a length of wooden dowel. Member Contributer kwharwood Posted September 13, 2022 Author Member Contributer Share Posted September 13, 2022 Lorne, Thanks, for your reply! As you indicated I will check my shop manual on the specified pages. I do use a wooden dowel to brace my tank. Many thanks, Kevin
Member Contributer Grum Posted September 13, 2022 Member Contributer Share Posted September 13, 2022 Hi Kevin. Yep as per Lorne. Fuel tank height restraint. Not really essential. Eyelet mounts under the tank just behind the front mounting bracket and the two front bolts.
Member Contributer BartmanEH Posted September 14, 2022 Member Contributer Share Posted September 14, 2022 I use this cable to secure electronics or tank bag using a small padlock looped through this cable’s eyelet. Just enough to deter would be thieves from walking away with an item.
