I came across this article and video and thought that it might be of use to anyone attempting to repair broken tabs on their fairings. Remember to always look at plastic Type code on the inside of the fairing before you buy the appropriate adhesive. https://diy-auto-repair.wonderhowto.com/how-to/fix-broken-plastic-tabs-bumper-0141489/

If you have bought new OEM red lower fairing panels for 5th gen US models, would you mind answering these questions: 1) How well did the lower fairing paint color match that of the front/headlight fairing? 2) Did the OEM part (in my case lower left, p/n: 64320-MBG-670ZA) come with the "VFR -Interceptor" decal? I ask as the decal is no longer available from Honda. Replica decals exist online, but they are not quite the same and I'm trying to preserve the OEM look as much as possible. Thanks. - Walt

I'm looking for Part #7 on this diagram. Every OEM parts site I've been on doesn't list this bracket in their inventory. I can't even find the part number for it. Anybody have ideas? I'd definitely take a used one if I can find a part-out somewhere. The PO somehow messed up the threading on this bracket and it mangles the fairing screws I put in it.

My Sebspeed Custom Clear Clutch Cover Experience
VifferCrab posted a topic in Sixth Generation VFR's
Many have been following my Chinese fairings build thread found here: http://www.vfrdiscussion.com/forum/index.php/topic/81765-viffercrabs-chinese-fairings-build-thread/ But, that thread is a bit lengthy, and I've taken it off topic at times, but there's one part of it that I feel deserves it's own thread, just because of the awesome sauce of it. And that's this SebSpeed clear clutch window. Many of you are familiar with him, and his work, but I, being new to the VFR world was not. I'd actually never heard of such of a thing before in my life, but I've been out of the bike world for a few years now, focusing mainly on cars and family, so it's no wonder I was a bit out of touch on the cool things going on in the bike world. During my hunt for ideas for my custom job on the fairings, somehow I fell upon a thread or two that showed the SebSpeed clear clutch cover. The very first one I saw, I knew I had to have it. It's so just damn cool, I don't care who you are, the cool factor is off the charts. My VFR was originally purchased as something to just get me back in the game, and had a little curb appeal to it. At no point, did I think it was going to morph into a full-on rebuild, but alas, he were are. I sent Seb a PM on here, and he got back to me immediately with price, timeline and the confidence that he'd help me through uninstall and reinstall of the cover. I'm a confident wrench on a car, but I'd never as much have even take a fairing off on a bike before in my entire life. After doing the full faring swap, adding exhaust, and a couple other low skill mods, I felt like with his help, we could do this. He literally gave me a play by play on how to take the cover off, take the pressure plate off, and reinstall when I get it back. I can't tell you how many messages we've exchanged. Let's just say it's a lot. I know he's getting sick of me, but to his credit, he's never let on to that, and has been nothing but helpful. More than helpful if I'm being honest. He's been holding my hand through this whole thing. Means a lot to someone like me... The day (night) came where I was going to attempt to take the cover off. Not really having the exact tool needed for the final step (a rubber mallet), I was ready to give up for the evening. He took the time away from his family to exchange how-to pics, and exact instructions on how to get it off, using less than optimal tools. He taught me a trick on how to use a 2.5 sledge and a Playboy magazine. Well, it ended up being a kids Skylanders magazine, but let's just say Playboy to make it interesting. Sure enough, did exactly what he said and BOOM, cover is off. Pressure plate is a piece of cake, not much instruction needed there. So, in a box it went, and he was even nice enough to offer to have it and my pressure plate sent of to powder for me, instead of me having to do it on my time. Again, means a lot to someone like me... Some of these pics are in my build thread, but let's put em here too, for when that thread slows down and is relegated to page 15 from the home page, never to be seen again: And here's the replacement gasket you need for the cover... And a few short days later, he sends me this picture.... Look at that work! He's a skilled dude, for sure. So now, it's off to powder coat, and then back to me. Can't stress enough how awesome he's been from start to this point. A true pro, very patient with me, and even offering his personal opinion when asked, about color and finish. Will update... -
Well it was bound to happen. Just completed a month long ride/work/ride from Maine to San Diego and back. (12,000 miles+). Good times and great memories. However, in a target fixated rider mistake I drove the poor bike off a right hand corner onto the soft shoulder at the lassan volcano national park in california. (Easily one of coolest places I have ever ridden). So, does anybody have a lead on replacement stickers for an 2007 rwb? Also, would you file an insurance claim for replacement upper and right side cowl or Buy oem replacements Or See if body shop can fix my rashes stuff?

First post so please forgive me if missing conventions. Bought a red 2004 VFR800 with paint that was a little rougher than the pictures would suggest. Long story short after much consideration I finally caved and bought an ebay (bliss-star-express = seller) fairing kit. Cost $623. Arrived in states one month after order but due to USPS error, sat in post office for ten days before I came to rescue it - another story. The original bike: Old and new part: The individual pieces came well packed in a sturdy box - no damage. A few blemishes in the paint could be seen on close inspection but fast forwarding to installed product they are not an issue. The entire take apart to install new pieces took about one full day but had a few bumps along the way. Know that I have a pretty complete garage for a non-professional so I could navigate unanticipated glitches. I also had an assortment of mounting fasteners (metal and plastic) from an earlier upgrade project. These became essential. These are the issues I feel anyone who is going to purchase one of these should be aware of based on my experience: 1) Fitment - you will end up pushing and flexing components together. There were no deal-breakers but I was uncomfortable at times with the force necessary. In the end it came together well with a few exceptions. Note gap between display bezel and black corner fairing cap: 2) Holes - you will need to enlarge the mounting holes to accept the rubber threaded inserts borrowed from the old fairing. This was not a big deal. You will need a drill motor with an assortment of bits. A micrometer is helpful for accuracy of hole sizes. 3) Some of the mounting bosses were pre-threaded with brass inserts in the plastic. These differed from the original parts (at least for 2004). I mis-threaded a front turn signal mount and damaged the fairing in the process which created a sub-project to repair the mounting point. Another thread mismatch was at the windshield mounts near the handlebar ends. Fortunately I was able to rummage through my assortment of screws to find a match but I should not have needed to use my supply of parts. 4) The mounting post at the bottom of the lower fairing that secures to the engine guard behind the front tire broke off while enlarging the mounting hole (see 2 above). Force was less than I would have expected to cause it to break. Got out the glue - another sub-project and wait time. 5) Extra holes - there are extra holes where the lower fairing joins to the front/nose fairing. I was able to use my extra mounting hardware I had around but would have needed to scramble or leave the hole if I did not. 6) The rear cowl mounted pretty straightforward as did the seat cowl. Missing a few rubber bits but, again, no deal breakers. The seat cowl rear alignment slot needed to be enlarged but this may be a consequence of my Sargeant seat. Dremel to the rescue. I thought it was an omission but the seller informed me that the seat handle mount covers are NOT included. Huh? New ones are about $9 each (which I have ordered from gearhead.com) but now I have to match the paint which is definitely less "cherry" than the original. I have the old ones in place now (after a Dremel modification) but the color offset is frustrating. 7) The tank cover worked well. The fuel filler hatch has a little rim around it that you can see the red tank underneath the cover. Also your magnetic tank bag will not work...plastic tank cover. So here is the almost finished project. Lots of unexpected detours. I recommend ordering a replacement set of fasteners (about $35 on ebay) in advance and have enough tools to make hard-to-predict modifications in the heat of battle. In the end I think it turned out great with most of the flaws mine to know but not obvious for all to see. Hope this is useful to those pondering a new fairing kit.

Does anyone have experience with the aftermarket fairing kits on Ebay? I'm looking at the straight out of Hong Kong Chinese kits, for instance, Heyman brand. I low-sided my 2006 and knocked a few bits off the left side. It would have been worse without the Radar sliders. Are these kits too good to be true? Are they as low quality as I imagine, or will they be close in quality to the Honda plastics? I only need the left fairing, rear fairing, and pillion cover. Or should I hold out and wait for someone to wreck the right side of their black '06 so I can cannibalize the left side? But for $500 shipped for a cool color scheme seems like a deal. Thanks!

I got my VFR 1200 DCT in 2010 as a DC commuter and fun bike. She has been so reliable I'm not had to research much on the mechanical design or owner problems. Its good to see this VFR1200 community thriving! V/r, DanVFR1200

I have a 6th Gen VFR and I have used it to teach my family how to ride motorcycles. In the process it has been dropped twice and scratched up my plastics. I was looking on E-Bay and see a variety sold from over seas. Does anyone know if they are worth the money? Where is a good place to get the plastic for my 08 VFR?

ok posted on here 2 months ago with a poor neglected 96 vfr thought i would do some thing different with fairing as it came as a streetfighter. And having never done this type of project before didnt know what it would envolve, so now im in a position to give advice that i wish i would have taken or asked for its much harder than i thought and leads to many other modifications. The bike had few problems to start with and wiring was full of issues all i had was a speedo. I bought full set of Gsxr k1 race / fibreglass farings , K6 Headlight , Zx9r Clocks , L.e.d rear lights indicator .L.e.d Front indicators, + Relay to suit. Now its different which is kinda what i wanted
