I am new to this type of activity so excuse me if I am in the incorrect location to bring up this question. I just purchased a 6th generation VFR800 with 15K and the chain looked to be needing replacement as it was easily outside of the wear indicator and had some tight spots and very loose sections. Installed a new chain and sprockets, all stock no change in gearing, and installed a DID chain. Well, all is together and after tightening the chain to just over the suggested 1 inch play the sprocket is at the very end of the wear indicator. I would have expected it to move up closer to the green range. The chain is the correct length at 110 links and both sprockets where the same size, I placed one on top of the other to ensure that the circumference was the same on both. Any thoughts on what other items I could check? Thanks in advance for any help or guidance you can offer. Note: I currently have the rear wheel off because I am replacing the rear brake pads at the same time, just in case this may play in the fact that the swing arm maybe at a different angle without this additional weight.

Received my 520 conversion kit from sprocket Center yestrday, and installed it. Went with a 17/45, I already had that combo on a 530. Short ride today and I'm very happy.

Hi, I just had the dealer install a new chain and sprockets on my 6th gen. The sprockets are Honda, and the chain is DID VX 530 Pro-Street. I've ridden the bike for the past 40,000 miles and now I have a constant clicking. I know I need to take it back, but any suggestions that I can use to direct them?

If you have ever stumbled across this page, http://sidewindersprockets.com/ Their advertising looks too good to be true, and apparently rightfully so... https://www.facebook.com/pages/Sidewinder-Sprockets-Failures/715008641920953?ref=aymt_homepage_panel (Edit) I'm out a decent chunk of change because of them. Their master clips fail all the time, smart 2 chains spit rollers after a few thousand miles and sprockets are made of butter. Huge waste of money.

Hey guys- Went to clean/adjust the chain on the '85 VF500 last night, and I think it's done. Was hoping to get some thoughts on replacing it. With such few miles, I'm assuming it's the OEM size, which I *think* is a 520. Can anyone confirm that? If so, how many links on it, if you happen to know offhand? With my other bikes, once the OEM 520 chain went bad I remember changing the chain over to the easier to find and cheaper 530 version. Thing is, I *think* I remember having to swap out the 2 sprockets as well, since I think the old sprokets are no longer compatible with a 530 chain. That sound correct to you guys? Been a while since I had to swap out an original OEM chain, so I can't remember for sure. I looked at the teeth on the rear sprocket, and they look fine. Not pointed or hooked in any way that I could see. I know you're supposed to swap out all sprockets when you swap a chain, right? I'm kinda on the fence about it b/c in reality these things only have as much hp as a chain saw practically, so I'm not sure if the benefits (if there even are any since the sprocket looks OK) outweigh the cost/hassle of swapping sprockets as well. Those of you with a VF500 still on the road, fill me in, yeah?

Yeah, sorry guys -- the oldest, most tired question. I'm going to get the big dog DID x-ring chain for my 5th gen, the chain rated for 1400CC bikes. What sprockets are recommended? Stock gearing is jeeeest fine. I was looking at an old thread (that I started ) but the helpful links that were posted are now dead links. Thanks (again), Aram
