Oy. If you only knew the half of it... It's not hard to make, it's hard to get the cost down for such a small number. Originally these COST (not what they sold for) was about $35 or so per set. That includes the drilled hardware. Shipping was not added to this. The latest proposal I got on the new design was about $120/set. This does not include the drilled hardware, which would add about $7 - $10 to it. Shipping was not added to this. To me, that's too much. Still trying to get some new CAD drawings I can shop around to get the price down. Stay with me, folks...

Just as an FYI folks: The images I posted earlier of the design have been deleted. Apparently, me posting them here solely in order to gain insight to the like-ability of the design, insight as to possible design failure flaws (esp. since the previous version broke on a few of you), and insight as to potential pricing (trying to judge at which point these become viable to you guys price-wise) has been seen (by non-forum members) as some sort of unwritten/unmentioned "breech" of a non-contract. So, we'll continue on with the latest design instead.

Feel free to lurk. Right now, I'm in communication with a list member here about other options on these, all with the grand goal of trying to reduce the costs in getting such a small batch made. Because of the holidays and the travel and work schedule around them, I'm told it will be early January for the next steps, which is surely understandable. I'll get back to you guys when I know more. Thanks for hanging in there, and thanks for your patience again.

Hmmm...to me, AL is the way to go. Esp. after seeing the first round of these crack under the other bolt. I'm not sure I'd trust them to anything but AL myself.

I'm on it. I know what these sold for round one when they were produced and sold here, and this round is like 500% more. To me, that is unacceptable.

We got enough to get it going. There's no minimum, but of course the more people makes them much cheaper. I know you guys have been waiting for an update, but I've got one more loose end to track down and get a bid from. Right now I'm at $160 USD per set, which to me is excessive, so I'm in the middle of trying another angle. So sorry for the delay, but every time I do the math I'm astounded how it works out.

Yep. Done. I've had plans to do that for a bit, just wanted to get it to the point that was nearer the end rather than keep up duplicate long-page posts on 2 forums. Also, I've posted a shorter version here for folks who maybe didn't know that we're nearing the end of it.

Oh, it for sure is gonna happen. Just not on the scale large enough to make it cheap for us early-adopters, that's all. I'll make a separate post once I get costs from the other vendor. Maybe that will improve things. Should also post it up on that "other" 2nd tier VFR forum as well that I'm on...(just kidding folks...)

Waiting for another quote to come in, but the first one....ain't cheap. With such low quantity, there's doesn't appear to be too much we can do about it. I'll share numbers as soon as the 2nd one comes in.

OK. Final-ish call so I can give it to this guy for quantity we'd need. I was quoted around $100 a set, and I'd add the price of the drilled bolts and shipping to that, but that price was for 50 pieces/25 pair. Right now we are at 16 pieces/8 pair, so I'd expect that price to go up. Should know more soon as to how much. If you at all interested, we are getting close to last call, so now's that time to say something...

I got another guy giving me a quote. Right now he's also around $100 a set for qty 50, but....we don't have 25 orders. So I asked him to go back and try 6-10 sets. Should hear back on Monday, 11/9.

Right now it was over $100 a set, USD. I was hoping to get that down by getting a ton of them made. Looks like that's not gonna be the case. I'll ask now about pricing for...six sets? Yikes. More when I know it.

Um...like I said, first off I'd like to get a count of who wants them for the 6th gen (02-09). Then, later, maybe the 5th gen (98-01) if we have enough interest.

Ok. Here's where I am. I got quotes on the part, but to be honest...I should get more. To me, it seems a bit high. And, at his price, I have added in nothing for me in all of this. Zero. Nada. I have also not added in shipping, and my time to get them/pkg them/ship them. True, the guy DID redesign the part for the better, and took into effect all of the previous design points that seemed to be small issues for those of you who own/owned a pair of these in Gen 1: the bolt is no longer conical at the bottom, and the ridges are built-in on the base where the GSXR miror attaches to allow it to tighten and stay in the set position better. I truly think this was improved by the engineer's help. So, better design can/should = a bit more $, in my mind, right? So now, I got a price, but he's asking about quantity. So, I have to ask: Who might be seriously interested in a set (two mounts + drilled bolts) for the 6th gen? The 5th gen will be up next in line (if I get enough interest), but for now, let's start with just the 6th gen. So, who's serious, and I'll count 'em up and see how many we might need.
