  1. "jacked" as in jacked up, fucked up, wildly out of synch. "lovely idle" pretty much eliminates carb synch from this scenario. So... how much movement did you get when you grabbed the rear sprocket and tried to force it back and forth in neutral?
  2. The reason I'm focused on these things, is that the FV is one of the most linear, smooth, carb bikes Honda made. Faulty pulsar and ignition coils don't really manifest themselves in this manner without other obvious symptoms. Carbs, maybe. The synch would have to be JACKED. You say it starts well, does it idle nicely?
  3. "not slack" does not mean not bad, or good. Also, with the bike in neutral and you grab the rear sprocket, how much can you move it back and forth. Should be pretty much zero by hand.
  4. Just for giggles... what do the chain and sprockets look like? And how do the cush drive rubbers feel as far as slop / freeplay?
  5. A front end stand that uses the steering stem might lift the front end high enough to touch the the rear tire down as it teeter-totters back on the center stand. I would do the first try with two people.
  6. You can perhaps direct some fresh air to the vicinity of the front air box inlet, but you don't want to get into pressurizing the air box unless the rest of the system is setup for it, imo. You might look at some VF1000R clip-ons (41mm). Besides being infinitely adjustable, both low (and "high" by swapping left and right), they are just fucking cool. This is not a great pic, but it is the only one i have at the moment. The downside is that it puts the "bars" in front of the fork tubes bringing everything even closer to the fairing. But they are low...
  7. If you are running the cowl anywhere close to where it is mocked, you are going to need very low clip ons if you want any kind of parking lot turning radius. Possibly under triple clamp. VTR 1000F clipons are not that. Btw... I like the mock up more than the dog. You got some work ahead of you. Keep it up.
  8. If it is indeed "R", and that means 1994, then yes, it is exactly the same engine.
  9. Cool! That exhaust is sweet too. Don't think I've seen an overflow tank mounted like that, but I suppose if the internal piping is one long and one short, it shouldn't make a difference as long as you have the appropriate hose attached depending on orientation. Looking forward to seeing more.
  10. That sure looks like crystallized brake fluid from being exposed to air and moisture in the first vid, as in a leak. I'd say your slave is leaking. How does the level look in your master cylinder? Had to add recently?
  11. Looking great!! Nice work.
  12. So you found exactly what you were looking for and now it's too expensive? I read somewhere there might be many fake sellers that perhaps offer it cheaper. But just think of all of the tolls avoided, camera tickets not received, and tax-free revenue from alleged illicit activities. It pays for itself in the first year, and then it's pure profit after that! I love this too, "Elevate your vehicle's aesthetics and privacy with a simple press of a button. Perfect for car shows or exclusive gatherings on private properties, this innovative feature enhances both your vehicle's style and discretion." aka "Not legal for use on public roads, streets, highways or land. Closed course competition use only."
  13. Be sure you are pressing down on the center of the cap very firmly before trying to turn the key.
  14. When does the rest of the VFR arrive?
  15. Welcome and great choice of a Honda. That is a suberbly refined model of the carbureted VFR.
  16. While we are brainstorming... What options do we have to obtain a Sovereign Citizen passport? Preferably electronically presentable.

  18. Jesus jumped up Christ. That snowballed. The coolant spigots always make me nervous, I was just talking about that with a buddy. He was SURE the bolt was gonna break. But he caught a break, not the bolt. Seen the remnant smear of an oring many times. I always take a pic and post a warning, "If you haven't been in there, I guarantee yours looks like this." Anyway, good work and enjoyed the write up. Luckily I'm at work and getting paid to read that chapter.
  19. Well, poop. Also... I see a "Spaghetti Incident" post coming soon...
  20. Every machine has a potential for problems, with prior ownership / usage playing a large part. You don't know what the diagnosis actually is yet. Cam chain tensioners can, and do, go bad and need replacement. Sometimes a failure aligns with bad timing. It's called a coincidence. A good seller would make a goodwill gesture to help resolve this. You did not buy from one. Have the bike diagnosed and documented by a reputable shop (if that exists near you) to be used as proof for your case. Whether that is court or presenting the findings to see if the seller will work with you if it's something somewhat simple. I certainly wouldn't trust the original shop to diagnose and/or repair the bike though. But getting turned off by one Honda (with no documented history from a shit seller) and looking at a Ducati for reliability and low maintenance is a fun statement. I do sincerely wish you good luck and hope it's something simple that you can pivot from without excessive additional pain and suffering.
  21. Escape when? My point is that when the work is done, fluid topped off, the cap is installed and the diaphragm settles down into the fluid, if there is no air pocket when the fluid heats and expands it can then exert pressure on the clutch and can cause it to slip. I apologize if that was understood the first time, but your answer was ambiguous to me. EDIT: Re-reading your post I think I understand now that you are losing your bleed (no lever feel / resistance ?), not building excessive pressure. Carry on and good luck.
  22. Make sure you are leaving some air space in the res when the rubber diaphragm and cap are on.
  23. What bay was this thing salvaged from? Jesus H Christ. Very sorry. I hope the problem isn't as bad as you think and it works out, but... Culpability on both parties here. Selling shit as ready to ride and an inadequate, to non-existent, buying inspection. He knew what he did here.
  24. Even though we have clarified that, I am still confused. What the hell does "dead" mean? They are all smashed and no air can pass? You have passages that connect the two tanks and you have fins between the passages. How about some pics of what you are talking about?
  25. What the hell is mounted on the upper cowl inner panel? Nuclear launch button?
