Pick whatever fully adjustable (non-linked brake) forks suit your fancy, get them on the bike, get them tuned by a good suspension shop + the rear to match, then spend $ on good braking components. Most importantly, a good radial master cylinder and ss lines. If that sounds expensive, you're right. lol But it's cheaper than buying a new bike.

I ran mine without the spacer for a bit. I didn't like the excessive play and the noise of the bracket smacking back and forth. Over time, the steel locator can wear on the aluminum caliper bracket, so I made the spacer and started including them. The Extreme Creations kit does not articulate the way the oem setup does. I tried to fix that in my version to make it a little better.

I wish I was able to do that at home... I put that tire on right before heading to Tennessee for a week. I was halfway into the wear bars at 800-ish miles, and the left outer edge sipes disappeared at just over 1000mi. They were very, very fun miles... 😀

What's your end goal? There are a ton of choices to make, depending on your goal.

So... 150+ non-electronically tamed horses sound fun, until you have to replace rear tires every 1000 miles...

I forgot to mention, that's an old pair of Icon gloves that have titanium knuckle plates. I was trying to get a pic with sparks coming off my knuckles & knees.

Thank you Sir

Thank you Did you measure the length vs the stock side stand? It would be nice to know
-
Interesting, thanks. Did you try fitting the CBR stand to the VFR bracket first?
-
It was mostly empty, so not too bad. I only mounted it to use the backrest for a 2up ride, it's off again now.

Thank you @Mohawk

So, the shock felt better on my test ride, although still not quite as good as it was before. I was hoping that was due to the tires being worn, but after fitting the new S22's it still did not feel right. Turn-in was lacking and the rear was compressing too much under acceleration. This made the handling suffer especially when exiting corners. So, out with the new and in with the old... A real shame as the gloss red 1200lb spring was a better match for my red paint, but oh well.

That is weird... it feels good and fresh after a rebuild though!

@Mohawk what model year CBR is the stand from?

Looking for red gas tank/rear seat cowl. 98 VFR

I sent you a message on facebook re: the tank -
Of course, no bike does. But, that doesn't mean I don't like having it.

I could definitely use the spacer trick but yeah, that really only works at home. I do have a SSSA rear stand to use in the shop, so I'll give some thought to losing the centerstand and more.

Hey, I don't have a seat cowl, but I have a really nice tank and I'm located a couple hours north of you near Catskill, NY. -
In Memory of Roy Wilson - aka zRoyz from this forum - he sold me his supercharger kit years ago and passed tragically doing what he loved most, hooning with motorcycle friends in the Aussie mountains. I hope my little cloud floats my thoughts of thanks up to you, Sir.

@TimC the tire is/was a Road Attack 3 on the wear bars. I'm replacing it today. I don't think I'll be able to use the stand once I mount up the new Bridgestone S22. It's probably worth mentioning that I am running a 190/55 rear on the 6" Ducati wheel. They are taller than the 180/55's. Not sure it would be enough difference if only running the 180. And thank you! It came off quicker than expected. I have to lose another 20 to hit my goal.

My shock was returned yesterday, and I installed it this morning along with a CBR600F3 dogbone link. The dogbone link is 5mm shorter than the stock VFR part, and has resulted in 1.7º steeper swingarm angle. It also makes my rear tire touch the ground when I put the bike on the centerstand... more to come on whether I've rendered the stand useless... I lost over 50lb in the last year, so I had Traxxion install a 1200lb spring vs the 1300lb I had on there. With regard to their warranty and customer service, I am happy. Traxxion took my shock in, rebuilt it with new Ohlins seal head, installed the new spring & dyno tested it, then returned it to me for a total of $45 (the cost of the Ohlins seal head). They turned it around in a few days. I don't like to change so many things at once, but timing is a little tight (again) as I'm heading to TN end of this week for a return trip with my son. I'm going to do a test hop with the old tires in a few, then pull both wheels so I can pop those S22's on for the trip.

Hey, thanks. I don't have any good pictures handy. The mount is a Ram-type ball & arm arrangement that hangs the gopro from the upper rear hole in the footrest, where the luggage rack normally mounts.
