  1. Sound like carb problems. Quick fix try some seafoam and see if it gets better. Any history on the bike ie sitting for a long time, Old gas, This is a 27 year old bike. I just rebuilt my carbs last week. What a difference. And my bike ran well before. VFR's do not like extras choke..If you can not sort it soon do not keep riding it or you may do damage.
  2. Nice story. I hope you get her going soon. Dreams are what we make them. By the time you are done you will know the bike inside and out. These bikes are getting rare and harder to find these days. Nice to see someone rescue a classic motorcycle. Too many go to parts. Work hard and you will be rewarded.
  3. I have put 1000+ miles on it this season and have no issues with heat. I looks close to the body work but there is not much heat in the muffler body. I assume the packing in the muffler acts like insulation and keeps the outside reasonably cool. The pipe was made for this bike and believe delkevic would know if it started melting bike parts. As the packing wears out will the pipe get hotter? Time will tell. I did put a little heat tape on the bottom edge of the fender above the muffler but do not think it was necessary. So far I am very happy with the pipe. The downside is with the pipe up so high and close to the body I do not think it will provide much protection to the body if the bike falls over. I know do not let the bike fall over.....
  4. We have nothing but crap gas here in maine. I have been adding a little startron with my gas and it seems to help. I can notice a difference after I fill up until I get home and add startron. Wish they would get rid of that crap gas. Causes nothing but problems. The factory owners manual says you can run up to 10% ethanol but I do not think 24 years ago honda planned on so much of the crap gas. Not much we can do about it. Dam the epa and give us the good gas back.....Maybe burnes45 can send me a 55gal drum of the good stuff?
  5. I did not notice much difference in noise without the baffle. With the baffle I had a flat spot at about 5000 rpm. Take that thing out and enjoy the sound. Also looks better with the big open hole in the back. Enjoy
  6. But you still can't get the wheel off with the pipe in place.
  7. Its the 18" I wanted to be quiet so I thought longer would be better. The quality was decent and the price was too. You would need to loose the rear turn signals to fit it. I use the ones in the tail. I also trimmed the rear fender. Looks cool from the rear.
  8. I have a delkevic high mount. Its not loud with or without the db baffle in. I left it out. You will not find anything as quiet as stock. Internal packing wears out and mufflers will get louder over time. Cost around $200. Cheap for motorcycle exhaust. Love the hight mount look.
  9. Thanks. Just got it last fall. I did a little work over the cold winter. Fluids, Tires, etc. I put the high mount muffler on and removed the pass pegs. I also trimmed the ugly rear fender and installed a led plate light. I removed the VFR750F decals and added the force v4 on the front fairing. The lower heat shields were beat up so I painted them aluminum. I have had two people ask if I wanted to sell it this summer. You just can't find bikes like these anymore. Its not the fastest bike or the best handling I have ever had but it has so much character and is a blast to ride. Years ago I had a 85 vf1000r. Loved the look but it was too heavy. Bikes come and go but I just might keep this one for a while
  10. Interesting that the frame says its a 91 but the white body and wheels were only sold in 93. Possibly had a frame swap? My windshield was discolored as well but did not come out as well as yours. Good job. Looks like you have lots of things to keep you busy. Keep posting how the bike is going. This is my 93 ride.
