I finally took advantage of good record keeping, and it worked out to 7,314 miles on set of Angel GTs. Love the feel of the tires, and the GTs do last longer than the STs. My tires didn't have any cords showing, they looked slightly more worn than when I was at the Kootenay Hootenanny III this last month.

Cageless, and I had some stop and go coming over Stevens Pass. It always bottles up in Index area, this time the Reiter Road cutoff was repaired so I snaked through that road and came out just above Startup, then inched my way to Sultan where I was able to turn off on the Ben Howard Road. Great event Mike, and be sure to let us know if the numbers don't balance, I'll be happy to help out. It was fun riding with old friends and hanging out with everybody. Curry and I will start working on the Oregon trip, stay tuned. Lee in Duvall P.S. The delay through Index cost me an hour but I was able to weed whack and mow already this morning, and NOW I can relax. P.S.S. Hey Mike, are we getting icons for the bottom of our screens? Hey, I just noticed, I don't have one for the 2008 Koot Hoot.- 495 replies

We'll have to check out routes home from Nelson, maybe you can excite me about some roads in Idaho? I'm bringing a map or two, or three . . ., The Northport Brewery actually used to be in Northport, just a bit shy of the border north of Kettle Falls, pretty decent IPA, I must say. Ask Tony about the beer bars in Seattle?- 495 replies

My soft bags are mostly packed, Jim will be here around 8 am and off we go, all good roads from Monroe all the way to Nelson. Hope I can sleep well tonight, like a kid going to Disneyland. Jeff call me, but we should be in Marblemount around 11:30 to 12. We'll gas up there and head on into Winthrop, park our bikes and head to the Old Red Schoolhouse for some Ruud Awakening, which won the Washington beer fest IPA a few years ago. Great place, new owners, apparently dedicated to preserving the original recipes.- 495 replies

This is a much more complicated question than you may imagine, mainly because I am riding once again with one of my all time favorite riding partners, Jeff and he tends to study maps and finds alternative ways to go, but to answer your question, I generally like to head east through Republic and north from Kettle Falls, there's a side trip across the border just east. Also everyone should know there's a great spaghetti place in downtown Trail, the Collander. Try it for supper as they keep filling your plate and its very tasty food. I still have to work tomorrow, but let us know what your thinking and perhaps we can hook up somewhere . . . .- 495 replies

Sounds good, I don't want to change your plans, especially since I never was able to lock in this trip until late. We will stay in touch in Winthrop and Tonasket is just an hour or so away if that. The Google Map shows 5 hours for us from Winthrop to Nelson and 249 miles. Seems like a nice way to spend a day.- 495 replies

Marquez is riding with wisdom beyond his years, a force to be reckoned with. Jorge maybe rubbing Yamaha's nose in it? Crutchlow finally rode to his potential.

Anyone and everyone is welcome to join, we've got a ride plan sort of. Jim aka Bizbat and I are leaving Duvall Thursday morning, riding to Rockport and taking a side trip to Lake Cavanaugh in and out, then meeting Jeff at Marblemount. This is a great meeting place and fill up place so let's be somewhere around the Red Caboose. I guess stay in touch here and we can exchange phone numbers later.

Africa Twin time, eh? I do a lot of work surveying cell tower sites in Oregon, I'm getting to know the roads very well even around Newport, btw, where I drank way too much beer at both Rogue breweries last year on my birthday. Will be fun seeing you guys in a few days.- 495 replies

We're still planning a route up there, Bizbat will be riding with me. I'm off Thursday so will probably head up over 20 and stay at Winthrop Friday and then follow Tonasket east to Kettle Falls and north from there. Derek and Tammy, are you thinking about heading south from Osoyoos Friday morning and possibly meeting us at Tonasket, or are you staying in Canada all the way? If Miguel is reading this, perhaps you might be so kind as to insert the great video you made of us riding from New Denver to Kaslo the first Hootenanny. I love the music you put to it. I volunteer to lead a pack of driveling Viffers around that loop again, but this year I'm going to visit the ghost town, just talked to some people from South Carolina who rode a rented Harley into the old ghost town and said it's an easy gravel road.- 495 replies

It's been a while since I went on a good long solo ride. I wanted to explore the area around the Columbia River Gorge just east of Mount Adams. Left my home in Duvall just after 7 a.m., warmed up by riding the country roads through Duvall, Carnation and Fall City, where I picked up I-90 and rode it east to the Canyon Road and followed this wonderful road to Yakima, where I took my first gas break. I was planning on breakfast at Mel's Diner but decided to press on as I knew I still had a long ways to go. Seventy-seven miles later I headed west on 142 out of Goldendale, and after clearing the farm lands, the road was awesome canyon riding with spectacular views or red rolling hills and mountains, oak and pines and rapidly running rivers, the Klickitat. I eventually found the Columbia but immediately headed back north through Old Highway 8, White Salmon, BZ Corner, and Glenwood, great canyon/mountain riding with views of Mount Adams, left Glenwood and headed west to Trout Lake, taking in the splendor of the pastoral farmland and Mt. Adams, looming large in the distance. Stopped at the café we all stopped at during one of the rides we took during the Troutdale/Edgefield VFRD trip way back when. Thought about staying somewhere, then thought about using up the long day's light and great scenery and headed back home mostly the same way, but this time I headed from Glenwood back to Goldendale, which has a 10 mile or so section of intensely twisty and beautiful mountain/canyon riding. Made it home after hitting severe, bike bullying winds just north of Yakima, which badgered me all the way west of Ellensburg, practically till I started up Snoqualmie pass. Got home just at dark, total miles 570, according to GPS, my odo said 574, so they are pretty close to each other. I only took a few pictures, will have to download them from my phone and get them on here, and with me, that is an adventure in itself.

I rode one, nice bike, not necessarily faster than my 2004, but smoother transition and great looks.

I'm seriously considering jumping on a plane and going to COTA MotoGP. I would like to know if anybody has been there and has any ideas on where the best seats are. I'd like to sit somewhere to see the garages and riders preparing?

I am also interested in the dog fight between Cal Crutchlow on the Honda and Bradley Smith on the Yamaha for top satellite teams. Watching todays practice its clear these two have each other in mind and have all season. Does anyone know why Crutchlow had to start from pit lane in Valencia after qualifying on the second row. Was it some technical foul up and if so what was it?

Yamaha is more than happy to finish 1-2 and have won everything, Team Title, Manufacturers Title, World Rider's Title. Don't bet on them being angry with Jorge, they would have nightmares if he defected to Honda or even Suzuki. He'll stay and Rossi's pouting will blow away and next season will be great. They are already starting the year and MM is leading the timing so far. I'm interested in how Redding does on the Duc and Rabat does on Reddings Honda.
