  1. wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much. $800 hopefully i can recoup a little with the selling of my motad and the muffler. DOES ANYONE WANT A MOTAD HEADER?
  2. I finally got my hands on a full system. She is in kinda rough shape. I need to pull out a couple small dents and ceramic coat it. I am not a fan of the low mount or huge muffler, so I will be looking into doing some custom mid-pipe work, or maybe I will merge the header to my Two Bros slip on, if the diameters are relatively similar.
  3. I don't know why everyone seems to think that the fan draws so much current. It really doesn't use a lot of power. The fan only uses a fraction of what the highbeams do. When I kick on the fan, it momentarily draws a good deal of current as it gets up to speed, and then stabilizes as a 0.10 drop in voltage. The idea that reversing the fan direction at speed doesn't work because the blades aren't optimized for that direction does make sense though.
  4. This guy has never driven a vfr, this guy knows what he's talking about. thumbs up buddy. You are good where you are at. I tried the vtr fan blade and while it works great if you are moving at 25 mph or more, it is incappable of cooling the bike off while stuck in traffic. blowing hot, stagnant, engine compartment air across the radiator will not drop temps. I did a similar if not the same mod to mine so I can turn it on early sitting in traffic. The hotter she gets the hotter everything else gets (frame etc) and makes it take waaaaaaaay longer to cool back down. I don't really see the point in being able to turn it off, that sounds like a recipie for over cooking engines when you inevitable forget you turned it off or bumped the switch without knowing. An indicator of some sort would be nice to know when you have the switch turned on but I didn't see the need and just used a simple switch I had laying around that would handle 30A (maybe 20A, don't remember now, I figured if it got hot I needed a better switch, no issues so far). To shorten up this statement a bit, I think a Tightwad fan override kit would be a good addition to your current arsenal of VFR farkles and sell well as much as VFR's run hotter than the sun! You need to be able to cut the fan off for when you pull on the highway. If your fan is running and you're moving at 70 mph, your bike will heat up, as the fan is fighting the incoming forward airflow. +1 I would have to have a idiot light to remind me its ON ... I usually just reach down an feel if its sucking or blowing. Easy with summer gloves, but with winter gloves on I have to rely on my voltage gauge. At highway speeds I will be running 14.1 volts fan off and 14.0 volts fan on. The fan barely draws any power once its running, but you can see a decent voltage drop as it spools up, thats usually how I check whether its on or off if I am stumped. Yes its true Tightwad can we get a switch to reverse the fan direction for when we're moving 25 mph and up, and normal direction below 25 mph. I will be the first to buy that.
  5. i can not wrap my head around why you opened up the starter valves instead of just cranking up the idle screw on the side of the bike. anyways there is a pdf of the service manual in the downloads section of the site. http://www.vfrdiscussion.com/forum/index.php/files/category/2-owners-manuals-and-other/

  7. Oh man why did you mess with the starter valves? those are for the warm up cycle (high idle, wax unit) Anyways those aren't your problem, but it may be a good idea to have the starter valves synced by honda though, especially after messing with them. What your problem is and where you should be focusing is the fuel cut. Every new bike since the last 10 years or so has a fuel cut at over 4500 rpms and 0% throttle for emissions purposes. Basically when you are decelerating hard there is no fuel being sprayed into your engine. It is more or less the same as dropping a few gears and hitting the kill switch. You need to look into this: http://www.ivansperformanceproducts.com/2006fz1.htm And I will answer your question right now, no a power commander will not fix this, as any percent of zero is still zero, you will not be able to add gas in the 0% throttle column. You should start emailing Ivan right now.
  8. lol bump up the idle. I personally could use more engine braking.
  9. The only benefit I see with two mufflers is if you wanted to put the silencers in, it would restrict the exhaust much less.
  10. Do you guys honestly think that having a second muffler branch off of the same SINGLE pipe, really affects the sound? I would put money on it, that in a line up of ten different, but equally modded sixth gens with different slip ons, that not one of you here could pick the single can out of the group, while blind folded. The second can splitting off the single pipe only adds weight and reduces flow. To top it off, no one even notices it until I pull the fake can off to go to the track and then I get to drop an extra 3 or 4 pounds off of the bike for free. You guys are seriously the only people that even notice that its not hooked up.

  15. sorry too much stuff to read, but did you ever concider going with bigger 3 gen carbs over the 4th gens?
  16. can we get a night shot pls... lol
  17. I still got the helis on right now. If you make me an offer worth my while ill trade with you.
  18. 7th gen is a 5 lug. it looks bad ass, but its not gonna happen...
  19. trust me dont even bother if you think your just gonna play with a dremel for the afternoon and get decent results. if all your going for is the shiny bare/brushed aluminum look, just sand off the powder coat, but if youre going for a mirror finish youre in for a rude awakening. it is truly a labor intensive bitch. your talking about a few weekends with a few hours a day. staring with 80 grit to get the paint off, then 120 grit, 200, 300, 400, 600, 800, then wet sanding with 1000, 1200, 1500, and 2000 grit, then rubbing compound then polishing compound and if your smart getting it clear coated. or you will be like me and having to for ever keep up with it.
