WalkThisWhey
Has anyone ever used this? http://www.amazon.com/Battery-Tender-081-0158-Disconnect-Charger/dp/B00DJ5KEF4 http://www.batterytender.com/Accessories/USB-Charger-QDC.html Looks like it'd be any easy way to charge your phone or use your phone as a GPS if it is mounted. Would like to use it but unsure if the draw from an iPhone with Google Maps open is too much of a draw for it and it'll roast something. Otherwise, would a hardwire be a better bet to a fuse panel http://www.wiremybike.com/vfr-specific-parts-2000-2001-vfr-parts-accessory-fuse-panel-kit-p-269.html
Member Contributer rhoderage Posted May 22, 2016 Member Contributer Share Posted May 22, 2016 I actually bought one last year but havent used it yet- a cell phone wouldnt have much draw, I dont anticipate any issues.
WalkThisWhey
So I tried it and it worked, quite convenient. At the same time, I don't have a volt meter so I don't truly know if it is causing any issues.
marriedman
I used something like that on my 5th gen, it's fine. A cell phone doesn't draw that much nor does a GPS. On my 7th gen I put in a FuzeBlock: http://www.fuzeblocks.com/ Then I have a rapid charge Ram type mount and a battery tender plug coming from the block. This also allows me the option to add things easily in the future.

Member Contributer Africord Posted May 27, 2016 Member Contributer Share Posted May 27, 2016 Watch your total draw carefully. I also have a USB connector on my 6th gen, but I don't charge my phone if I use my grip warmers. The total draw exceeds available amps.

That's a very good point to bring up - in my case it's the only thing I have, but if others have something like grip warmers, then yes they could be in for a rough day

With an extension, you can lock the phone and the charger in a side bag. Excellent!
