Guest DrJay
Hi Everybody, I have done what seems like a fairly thorough web search and the only 100/90 x 16 Tires I have been able to find are the Pirelli Sport Demons, Brigstone Battleaxes, Metzler Lazertechs and the Kenda cruisers. Are you aware of any other options? Also, for those with tire experience on the VF500 F, what would be your preference be for general sporty street riding? Finally, should I consider going 110 front and 120 rear? That would give a couple more options. Thanks!
Member Contributer CornerCarver Posted June 4, 2014 Member Contributer Share Posted June 4, 2014 The Metzler's are probably the best option if you keep stock sizes. The best option is moving to a set of CBR F2 wheels and fitting modern rubber.
Member Contributer Dedofnite Posted June 4, 2014 Member Contributer Share Posted June 4, 2014 Hi Dr, I run the battlax 100/90 on mine with a 120/80 on back. They are not expensive, and work great on the street. I found the 110 makes the steering too heavy and doesn't fit the stock rim very well, can't use the whole tread. I think we used the 110 Michelin on the track when I raced them years ago, but that was way past street angles... Ded
superfunkomatic
Bridgestone BT45 comes in sizes for the front and rear. They're a decent tire.
keny
I think the one you say are only awable, well Avon has had its Roadrider in the 100/90-16 size as Dunlops 501. I have experiens from the BT45, Lastertech and SportDemon, all good tires and offer good grip for normal road riding. I have a Lasertech front BT45 rear combo on my RG250 now. The BT45 front tends to pull the bike up when braking as leaned in a corner, the only think I dont like about it, the Rear BT45 is really good. The SportDemon ten to cup front, Rear is very nice also and offer good grip. The Lasertech front is nice and wears very even, the rear is OK but lacks input the BT45 and SportDemon gives. Front keep stock size for nice handling, rear yes I think you can upgrade to a 120/80 as stock rim is quit wide (they used to be minimum width for tire size in the 80´s) like Dedofnite says. Depending what your riding is, keeping the stock size, it works OK. Putting in F2 wheels is bling and make you been able to run modern tires, but it you not finding the stock size tires limits all the time it might be better to keep stock size. Guest
Thanks for the input guys. Being cheap, I was wishing Shinko made a 100/90x16, but since no cheapies were available, I ordered the Sport Demons. When I get them on I'll post on what differences an old slow guy notices between them and the 9 year old 130/80 Bridgstone B45 rear and 100/90 Chen Shing (!) front.
