WGREGT
+ battery --------------- 5 amp fuse ------- on/off switch --------- +cig ground---------------------------------------------------------------------neg cig.. get it? got it? GOOD!! i had duel set up phone charger with the usb cable slot in back. i shrink wrapped the cables together and used a 2 rubberbands to keep the charger in the cig port. and it tucked under my seat the cables exited near the dash. Thanks for the diagram and the ideas. Now...if I wanted to wire my radar detector into the same switch, so that the same on/off switch ALSO turns power on/off to the the RD as well, how would you do that, using your diagram? Member Contributer gll429 Posted April 9, 2014 Member Contributer Share Posted April 9, 2014 is the radar detector plugged into a cig socket? if so use a duel or triple cig socket. same diagram just more sockets mount it under the tail on the SIDE .. plenty of room under the plastic. WGREGT
No, the RD has a hard wired cord with a fuse already. No cig socket on this one.
Member Contributer gll429 Posted April 9, 2014 Member Contributer Share Posted April 9, 2014 No, the RD has a hard wired cord with a fuse already. No cig socket on this one. then spend 5 min and add an on/.off switch into the cord. and place it where you want. i had my switches on the left upper fairing panel.. 1 for gps/phone 2 for LED lights around the bike 3 for rad fan (start stop traffic) 4.KILLS ALL LIGHTS EXCEPT ONE SPOT LIGHT( for running from the cops)
WGREGT
I've spent a good bit of time today with a test light, trying to find a hot/power wire that's in/on/around the taillight that is hot only when the key is on. Tried all 3 wires leading into the taillight bulb itself, and a myriad of others. Each one I've hit is hot (and lights my test light) when the key is off. Anyone got any tips on either what color wire might be hot with the key on, or maybe where to find it?
WGREGT
Duh. Figured it out. I had the test light hooked up to the POS battery terminal instead of the negative. Rookie mistake. I found the right wire. Carry on...
