1985 Vf500F2 Rebuild Help Needed

Hi all

I'm new to the forum and this is my first post. Last week I managed to pick up a 1985 VF500F2 that hasn't been used for a good few years and needs a little work to get it back on the road. I've decided to go for a full nut and bolt rebuild but just want to check everything works before I start taking it to bits.

I spent the weekend looking at the wiring loom and soldering/mending broken wires and connections that require some attention due to age.

I can start the bike but only if I pull the clutch lever in. I have a small black wire that runs down the side of the right crank case cover that is disconnected from somewhere and I'm wondering if this has something to do with having to pull the clutch in to start.

If anyone has any ideas or advice it would be greatly appreciated.

Tom

Tried touching the wire onto the neutral switch and it works! Thanks Sebspeed.

It seems that the connector on the wire is missing to keep it connected to the neutral switch. Is this part available anywhere?
