Hi guys. Just putting my '83 750F back together, and have come across a bit of an anomaly with the rear brake torque arm. I'm not sure if there's supposed to be this space around the caliper mount??

The parts fiche doesn't show any shims fitted? If it's there to allow the caliper to slide, should I grease it?

cheers

simple.

get the rear wheel up in the air..

spin the wheel..

does it spin free with little if any drang?

GOOD!

does the brake work without pushing itself to one side??

good !

if either happen. play with it. :comp13:

hope it good to go!

there's no fluid in the system yet.

these calipers are designed to slide on their mounts. Unlike later systems where the caliper is fixed, and the disk moves on it's mounts (floating disk systems)

if either happen. play with it. :comp13:

hope it good to go!

Yeah, I think I'm satisfied the space is designed into the system.

cheers

just about ALL rear brake calipers slide. you are asking about spacing.. the only way to see if its right is to test it.

i thought the spacing was right on a 4 wheeler but i had a washer in the wrong spot.

and it created too much drag. :comp13:

so test it.
