itchybro
I'm wonderfully spoiled living where I do. I have the incredible good fortune to be very close to some world famous roads. AND, many of the less famous ones to get there are just as good. So.. Friday I was asked by an old friend if I like to attend "Sunrise Services" This was my second "real" ride on the VFR since I acquired it. (commuting doesn't REALLY count) Thus: Sunrise services were conducted in the following spots:Foothills ParkwayDeal's GapCherohala Skyway3604117295321Old Maryville PikeHere's where the first bell rang! Once the roads dried and the sun came out... The "Rainmaker" and I bonded. The Sky Way became our "happy place... Hmmmm... I'm gonna say me being IN Tellico Plains is "suspicious"! vguy
Great roads -- I miss them. My favorite 12-mile run in the WNC area was 180 from 129 to Suches, GA (60).

itchybro
Great roads -- I miss them. My favorite 12-mile run in the WNC area was 180 from 129 to Suches, GA (60). I'm a fan of taking a left at the end of the Cherohala and going down 68. (does it then turn into 60? That smells familiar. I did that a couple weeks ago.) vguy
Yes, TN 68 becomes GA 60. Suches is where the original Two Wheels Only lodge and campground was. The 180 is as good or better than the Dragon (IMO) and less traveled = safer. And two miles longer! https://maps.google.com/maps?q=suches+ga&hl=en&ll=34.687393,-84.017901&spn=0.033876,0.061755&hnear=Suches,+Union,+Georgia&t=h&z=

Member Contributer SamW Posted August 1, 2013 Member Contributer Share Posted August 1, 2013 The area around TWO is a fun sport to ride, I used to do the 129/180/60 loop all the time, it is really the area I learned to ride. It was nice when I buddy had a cabin in Blairsville and we could spend the weekend riding.
