nedhills
Simply put, how are the charging systems on the 750? could I get heated grips or would that be too much power? I was thinking about these ones- http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Honda-Shadow-750-Aero-Heated-Grips-/271116686096?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3f1fd05310&vxp=mtr&_uhb=1#ht_3244wt_906
Member Contributer CornerCarver Posted January 31, 2013 Member Contributer Share Posted January 31, 2013 I never added any electrical mods to my 83 so I can't say with any proof but maybe you could check the voltage on your bike at idle and at 5,000 rpm to see how much your charging system is really putting to ground through the reg/rectifier. In my opinion only, if for example, your system is putting 12.5 at idle and 13.8 at 5k then you would have enough reserve amperage to add some grip heaters. Regarding the heated grips, I personally do not like that style that you have pictured because I like to run a softer gel type grip. I like these http://www.motorcyclegear.com/parts/accessories/grips_and_grip_warmers/symtec/motorcycle_grip_heaters_with_round_rocker_switch.html even though you will need to select a set of grips also the price should be comparable with the Canadian $ on par. Member Contributer JamieDaugherty Posted February 2, 2013 Member Contributer Share Posted February 2, 2013 I think it would be ok. As mentioned, just check your battery voltage with the grips on to make sure everything is working.
Guest
I have a pair of Oxford heated grip covers that just wrap over the oem grips and can be taken off very easily on my scooter. It's got charging issues and I can still go over a week using them heavily without having to charge
