Mechanical Fit Compatibility

Question

Well I finally sprung for a GPS (Nuvi 550 for $225US). I want to use a RAM-B-149ZU mount on the front tank mtg. screws along with a Powerlet PKT-012 steering head outlet and a Powerlet PPC-015-SC short cable.

RAM mount

Powerlet socket

Cable

Has anyone out there put together this setup? In particular, I am a bit concerned that the connector head of the Powerlet PPC-015 cable going to the Garmin unit might interfere with the neck of the RAM mounting unit. Try as I might, I couldn't find a photo in the VFRD forums that showed BOTH the cable going to the Garmin and the RAM mount.

If someone can post a photo that would be nice, else confirm that they have done same and they don't interfere.

Much obliged,

If I understand you. You just want to know if the electric cord will get in the way. Here is mine, with about the same amount of cord but different unit.

EXCELLENT! :fing02: It looks like the angle of the gooseneck (harks back to the good old days of high handlebars on peddle bikes....lol) is much more vertical than I imagined.

The parts will be on order within minutes... smile.gif

Thanks Monk.

Be ready to go to the hardware store. When you get the ram mount. The tank bolts are too short, you'll need about 1cm longer bolt.

Hello!

Tha cable is wrong, 550's mount needs another one. You can make one yourself with the powerlet connector and the cable from zumo box.

Or you should get PPC-020-SC or PPC-020

SC:

PPC-020:

The Powerlet cable with the angled head is indeed the one to go with. That angled part isn't as easy to wire in(I did Monks cable custom), but if it comes with it then that part is solved.

The OP has a Nuvi, not a Zumo so the connector he shows is correct.

You're right, I saw 550 and didn't notice "nuvi" smile.gif

My fault!
