  2. As many of you may have seen, we have been able to successfully reflash the 2010-13 VFR1200 (F & DCT models) with fantastic results. We have acquired an 2006-09 VFR800 ECU and have begun the process of disassembling the code. What We would like to know is: Who might be interested in having their ECU reflashed to get rid of any restrictions (ignition timing, top speed limiters, rev limits, etc.)? What, if any, issues with the 2006-09 VFR800 that we may be able to fix with an ECU reflash (for example VTEC engagement RPM, fueling, surging, of other issues in the power curve)? With this information, we will know if it is worth it to proceed working with this ECU and market, and what items to find in the ECU. I would also like to know if there is anyone with this motorcycle that might be interested in letting us run it on the dyno to test ECU modifications (it will be worth your while). I believe that we are the only aftermarket company that has reverse engineered Honda's flashing protocol to be able to flash the Honda Keihin ECUs through the harness connectors WITHOUT drilling or cutting holes in the ECU. Thanks for your time! Don Guhl Guhl Motors 717-618-4212
  3. 2007 VFR800 with 22,000 miles (32,000 km) See youtube video below: Are these the dreaded CCTs? Is it normal to get them sounding like this with this little mileage? My buddies 02 started rattling at 44k miles.
  4. Sorry if this has been asked before but I did try searching. I live on the Central Coast, NSW Australia and I’m looking for recommendations as to where to have the valve service done on my RC80 vetec. I’ve heard the horror stories and was ripped off by a mechanic who said he’d done the service and charged me for it but I recently discovered he hadn’t. As a result it’s now way overdue. The local Honda dealer has only just got the Honda franchise so not keen on them as they’d have no experience. Happy to travel to Sydney or Newcastle. Thanks for any help 🙂
  5. Hey guys, just picked up a 2004 Vtec model in red with 55,000kms on it. Been riding a weapon of supermoto for the last 2 years and finally decided to get something a little more refined for longer rides. Since purchasing her, I've done all the usual mods as listed - Staintune Pipes - Delkovic Headers - Pair, snorkel and flapper mods - K&N High flow air filter - Techspec Snakeskin tank grips - Power commander 3 usb - Some nice sticky Pirelli Diablo 3s - Stedi HID headlights - Clear indicator lenses with switchback LED indicator globes - Fender eliminator The bike is running so nice and smooth now and boy does it sound good. Time to find a nice set of OEM colour matched panniers and put down some serious saddle time!
  6. Does anybody else experience a brief loss of power when transitioning to VTEC? It does not happen all the time, and does not seem to be related to which gear or what speed, but when going past the VTEC threshold I seem to sometimes have a very brief reduction in power before picking up sharply as the RPMs rise. It is very jarring when it happens, and does not inspire confidence while riding.

  9. Hi there, So over the winter I installed a power commander V to try to improve 1) throttle jerkiness and 2) jerky VTEC transition. I've just had my first test ride and while the throttle jerkiness has gone totally the VTEC transition is worse than ever. At 10% or 100% throttle it's smooth, but at 50% (where you spend most time in the real world) it's super jerky. Feels like there's a complete cut for about what feels like a whole second before it comes back in. I've already done the PAIR, snorkle and flapper mods and have a standard exhaust with the baffle mod done for more sound. I installed the 'European 2002-2005 model, Stock exhaust, Stock or aftermarket air filter, Airbox valve disabled' map. Anyone had a similar experience or have any suggestions as I've just spent over £300 and made my bike worse! Thanks in advance, Tom

  13. So, my 2007 ABS model is currently disassembled, awaiting DMr suspension rework, and a Factory Pro shift kit and Galfer lines under the Christmas tree. This little guy fell out as I was popping the bike off the center stand for a bit. At that time, I had just removed the rear fender, so I figure it was held by one of the bolts in the rear of the bike, nominally under the seat. I am guessing the round bar at one on end held electrical connectors but could be wrong. Anybody recognize this piece? Thanks in advance!

This totem is the Salish Bear pole at the summit of the Malahat highway near Victoria BC. It was carved in celebration of the 1966 centennary of the merger of colonies of Vancouver Island and British Columbia. The elevation is a modest 356 metres, or 1157 feet, above Saanich Inlet which can just be spied in the background.

  15. I don’t want to kick off the usual debate, just asking because a guy on a local board with a 6th gen just did his valves and offered to help check mine. My current VFR has only 15k miles and a mechanic friend suggested it’s almost certain the entire 6-8 hour job will only serve to confirm they’re within spec. Given I’m not anxious to waste time (mine or anyone else’s) I’d love to know if anyone has done their valves at 15-16k and needed adjustments. If not I will likely opt to hold off. Thanks!
  16. Greetings from Russia, from Far East! I want to share my restore vfr 750f rc36 1991, to Your. My VFR was bought by the guy from the far,far away Russian village Planned manufacturing streetfighter , but inspiration has ended . Came the idea conversion to VFR800 VTEC 2003 . I did not see VFR750F in VFR800 body...so I decided to try to let everyone know that this is possible . Plastic was purchased with injuries after an accident . Hastily rebuilt , for the draft . At the moment, that's such a result . In the future, it will be installed: VFR800VTEC head light, new fairing, new front subframe. P.S the fuel tank in the photo, removed for repair P.S.S. Thx to Google Translate ^_^

  20. Hello. I have a comfused situation. I made a few modifications on my 2002vfr, to gain more power and smoother vtec transition. What is the power gain I don't know, I did't yet go to dyno center. But the vtec transition isn't smoother. it is much harder then before. how could i fix this problem. my modifications: - leovince slipons - removed CAT and O2 sensor(installed 330ohm resistors) - K&N air filter - removed snorkl, larger intake hole on the airbox - power commander 3 usb with this map(http://www.vfrdiscussion.com/forum/index.php/topic/31520-04-vfr-dynotuned-results-1093hp-592tq/) Thanks for the answers
  21. OK, my vtec frends. I know there is an answer for my question on the forum, but I don't have enough time to search all the topics, so I am asking here if I could get all the answers. I own 2002 vtec abs, I want to put on 98 headers. In some topics it is answered they fit to my model. Is that correct?. Are there needed any modification to fit or just fit and drive? Next thing. Does the pipe fit from the header fit directly to pipe of exhaust, like with original headers?(mark 1 on the picture) The nuts fitted to engine, the lower bolt are all alligned correctly? And because of the new gaskets, what gasket must I buy? For 1998? Or for 2002? http://www.ebay.com/itm/HONDA-VFR800-Fi-VTEC-2000-2009-EXHAUST-GASKETS-SEAL-RINGS-SET-COMPLETE-/360893297201?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item5406eab231 I would like to make no leakage, so I would like to add sealant to pipes connecting the leovince exhaust, what sealant is good for the job.
  22. In the midst of my Colorado tour a couple weeks ago my '09 VFR's battery died. This was atop Grand Mesa about halfway between Grand Junction and Delta, an hour away from either. Luckily it bump-started and got me to Delta and our motel for the night. We found a local shop, Fast Repair, and the battery measured 12.0 volts engine off, and about 12.7 running. The three phase plug from the stator measured ~40 vac on two coils but only ~16 on the third. In retrospect the stator was the obvious fault but throwing parts at a problem when you're 1,000 miles from home gets expensive. So I disconnected the wiring for my electric vest and grip heaters, and also pulled the headlight fuse. Since the bike had run fine on a flat battery for 80 km, I figured a new battery might let me finish the trip. The recharged original added some peace of mind. If worse came to worse I'd rent a truck and haul it home. There was no trouble on the next three days, but on the fourth it died again so I swapped batteries at the next gas stop. The next day I bought a small charger & multimeter and that was enough to get me home. Today I picked it up after my dear installed a shiny new stator. Not a cheap fix but one of the few hard faults I've had over the past 25 years.

  24. Does anyone have a set of the VTEC slider pins that are needed to do the valve adjustment measurement on the 6th gen? I ordered a set, but they aren't in stock - and realized I should probably ask here - and possibly set up an exchange for them as they are rarely used, and not easy to damage. I'd be happy to pass the ones back-ordered, but since I have no date on when they'll ship and a bike apart in the garage, I wanted to ask if anyone could sell or loan me theirs to get the job done. Thanks from southern Maryland.
