  1. Does this look like it's missing any pieces underneath? I see the rubber stops, etc, and though my hand is covering the right side somewhat, it is the same as the left. The rear most part of the seat cowl doesn't sit staticly. I can press down and the plastic makes hard contact with its mount like it's missing a rubber piece of some kind so while I'm hitting bumps in the road, it's making minimal, but hard contact. Best I can tell, everything is there per parts breakdown diagram. I might need to craft a cushion of sorts.
  2. G'day, long time no write fellow VFR geeks!! I've spent the last hour going through oh, umpteen search results looking for a thread on how to DIY your own 3rd gen sidestand cover as they are no longer available from OEM part stores and rarer than rocking horse poo on ebay etc. Was there not a thread by someone who fabricated their own? If there was can someone pretty please (with a VFR on top) provide me with a link? If not, I wonder if Seb has ever thought of CDCing or 3D printing one or otherwise looked at providing these as a product, just as with his clear cluth covers??? Bueller? Thanks in advance and do keep the rubber side down!!
  3. I'm looking for Part #7 on this diagram. Every OEM parts site I've been on doesn't list this bracket in their inventory. I can't even find the part number for it. Anybody have ideas? I'd definitely take a used one if I can find a part-out somewhere. The PO somehow messed up the threading on this bracket and it mangles the fairing screws I put in it.
  4. I recently fitted pillian handles to my 98 vfr, I was going to get a rear seat cowl but I'm not sure if the cowl can be used with the handles on . I had a rear cover previously but it got stolen and If I remember there wasn't any place for handles to pop through . Thanks
  5. Hi The form in head of one side cowl screw, what is mounted in the metal holder below the plastic cowl is now off. It is so tight mounted, was not possible to open with my new tool, either:( I have already purchased a new screw for our Dealer. Do you have any advise, how to open and replace this screw and not to damage the painting of the side cowl?
  6. Dear 4th Gen Enthusiast across the pond and about Europe I have either discovered a great OEM parts site or I have discovered yet another mirage in my attempt to replace the right-side middle fairing on Pretty Red. Here's the dilemma. My cowl is stamped Cowl Comp. Middle 64411-MZ7A-0000. Searching on this will show a few sites, mostly Swedish and no availability in the U.S. I was able to reverse search on Partzilla.com and can find the needed cowl with the part number: 64430-MZ7-670ZD -- but it is noted as OBSOLETE. I tried ordering it from a few U.S. websites and it always fails. The part is no longer made. However...I don't remember how I stumbled across the following, but there are several European Honda OEM websites that list the cowl as being available with a slightly different part number and some triangle things (see picture, item 8) that are not shown in the U.S. version. I don't know what those are. The site I'm looking at is motorcyclespareparts.eu. The part I need is on this web page: https://www.motorcyclespareparts.eu/honda-parts/motorcycles/vfr750f-1997/f-32-2-lower-cowl-536292.aspx Part #13 which appears to be everything associated with the cowl. In the U.S. version, it is Part #9 - appears to be the cowl-only. Besides California smog equipment (and apparently more colors available in Europe) is there any difference in the 94-97 European VFR? Is Pure Red (U.S.) the same red in Europe? Parts are listed by color (where appropriate) and again, there is that triangle thing. Thank you for any help and input.
  7. Folks, I am the proud owner of a 96vfr that I have a long history with and over 75,000 miles. I have a recent problem that requires me to replce the rt and lt side lower(mid) plastic cowls. 64470-Mz7-670zd It appears that these parts are no longer manufactured. Does ANYONE have a line on these parts or no someone that does? I am hurting here. She is my baby so if you can help please call, Dan at 925-202-3709 Thanks
  8. Bought a rough VF1000R this weekend, a bike I have always liked and wanted to get checked off the "bucket bike list" Currently painted black and down on both sides. This fall and winter a rebuild and repaint will be in order. So in the mean time, educating myself and amassing parts. Engine is the best part. 29,000 miles, starts immediately, doesn't smoke or leak oil. Shifts good, revs out well, clutch feels good. So encouraging news there. Several questions about parts through. 1) Need to find a windscreen. Aftermarket is fine. I see Twisted Throttle has choices (original, spoiler, touring) in different shades from MRA. They are available in 4-6 weeks. Any other alternatives? 2) Mirrors. The bike is missing front turn signals, this would be a good time to change to integrated mirrors/turn signals, as the mirrors are rashed as well. Does anyone have suggestions? I'm thinking just some rather plain ones from Ebay in black, then fab up adapters. Modern mirrors all seem to mount vertically (to fairing), the Honda has a horizontal mounting. Small right-angle adapter would be fairly easy. 3) Exhaust. The bike still has a rusty OEM exhaust that appears scuffed and beat up, as well as very heavy. Looking online I can't seem to find a full exhaust system designed for the bike, although I would settle for just a slip-on. I see many brands (Yosh & Hindle being the two most common). Obviously they no longer stock exhaust for a bike this old, but what are options? I like the look of the Leo Vince pipes used on ICON's Magificent Basterd show bike. A cheaper alternative would be to use DanMoto GP series. But if someone makes a pipe designed to fit on the bike, that would be great. Anyone? 4) Footpegs/rearsets. I think the footpeg assemblies weigh as much as a new Honda minibike. Does anyone make a set for the VF1000R, or are we stuck fabricating ones to fit? 5) rear seat cowl. One thing missing was the rear seat cowl. Not surprisingly they are NLA from Honda. Does anyone make a replica? 6) Seat upholstery. Does a 1986 seat cover fit a 1985 bike? Mine has a duct tape special covering the original ripped red seat cover. I see Ebay has covers, curious if there were any differences. Thanks in advance.

  10. Anyone ever purchase the 5th gen solo seat cover from eBay? Any feedback regarding these (non-OEM) cowls? I am looking at this one: Rear Seat Cover Cowl for Honda VFR800 98-02 Black 99 00 | eBay It's from Hong Kong ding dong.. just want to make sure I don't spend $50 bucks and get something that doesn't fit. But at the same time I would not spend $100+ for an OEM one..
