  1. I can still get in touch with the guy who gave me the $50-ish USD per set quote, but we're still as far off in the count as we were the first time I tried this.
  2. I've been asking for 50 and 100 on my end. Let's see what we get. I tried one more place myself yesterday, and got this back just now: "I was wondering if you could send me the solid models files? We can't quote without a properly made CAD file." OK. I know nothing about CAD. But I have run into this before. These parts were made in the past (and not THAT long ago...2008?) with these same files. And now about 60% of the places I sent them to said the same thing. Can't open them. Not enough info. CAD files are no good. What in the wide wide world of sports is a'goin' on here? Sounds like we will potentially be right back where we were when I got quotes: Found a shop to make them, reasonable on the price, just no interest from folks here. Looking back a few pages my price was around $50 a set.
  3. Thank you. You are go for launch. I say again: you are go for launch. PM sent.
  4. Hey Seb...before you get rolling on this, let me run it by Senor Bling first, will ya? PM sent.
  5. I know where you're goin', Seb. And it ain't that easy.
  6. I know a lot depends on cost. More when we know it.
  7. I do have the CAD files, but I know nothing about CAD and a few of the places I sent them to said there was not enough info on them. But some of the vendors said they had everything they needed for a quote, so I don't know. Is the 3D printer at your place? Sound like a weekend project if so?
  8. Well folks, it's been a while since I asked for potential buyers, so I'm gonna say interest has waned. If it picks up, I'll step up and try again, but till then...
  9. Have you wired them up yet? Am I right when I'm thinking/hoping that you can hide the wire? PS So far I don't have near enough interest to get these made, sadly. Only one or two folks, which makes the price per pair really high.
  10. Pretty much everything Emgo makes is really sub-par from the OEM stuff. I worked @ a dealership and you could count the days after we sold something from them before we got it back. And we always got it back.
  11. I guess it really depends on the quantity. For a set of two (L+R) they were $150/set for 20 sets/buyers, and of course the more we needed the price would go do from there. If we got 50 buyers/sets it came out to about $50 a set/per person, as a rough estimate. I told the guy @ the machine shop I'd get back to him with a firm number, and then he could get back with a firmer price.
  12. Well, I'm the wrong guy to ask since I don't have a pair. Like most everyone else, I've seen fotos and that's it. I'll let those who have them weigh it....if you got a set of the originals, fill us all in!
  13. UPDATE: After much legwork and emailing, I am personally in possession of the original CAD drawings for the original GSXR mirror adapters, designed by Mr. Darth Bling himself. (Thanks, DB!) I have spent the last few months emailing them to various machine shops, both near me in SoCal and even to the same shop that Mr. Bling had them made at originally in Canada. And I cannot really comprehend what followed, actually. I'd say I sent the drawings & info to 12 shops total. 3 or 4 didn't bother responding. A few others did, but only to tell me "not interested." Out of the 12, apparently 10 shops have all the money they need. Amazing to me. The one in Canada must be out of bid-ness, even though their site is up, emails don't get bounced back, and phone messages go unreturned. So apparently, they got all the money they need too. I finally got down to two folks locally that gave me pricing. I stopped there b/c I decided before I went any further, I'd better gauge interest, from you guys, as well as my own, actually. You'd need two pieces (one for the L and one for the R mirror), and they are black just like the original ones. There's also a large phillips head screw for each one that apparently is drilled to allow the wires to pass thru and be hidden, which is good, b/c if the wires were outside the stalk I'd probably not want a set. Anyhow, after all this talk/chatter about them, now is the time to say so if you think you'd REALLY want a set. I posted photos at post #93, page 10 of this topic, if you wanna see what we're talking about again. Oh! If you know/use a machine shop near you that you like and think could/would handle this, let me know that too. I'd be willing to get some more competitive pricing as well.
  14. Any movement on any of this, guys? If you got a mod that works, I/we would love to hear about it.
  15. Can't wait to hear what you got going on, SA1713....with fotos, of course!
  16. Ohhhh....I thought that was a screwdriver! Thanks- Looks like that pivot bolt is too small to drill thru, huh?
  17. Hey CornerCarver...any movement on your solution to all of this yet?
  18. Can you shoot a foto of what you are talking about with drilling the wiring above or below the base? Is the wire running along the exterior of the arm? Huh? No way....would Suzuki do that? I figured I'd just drill a small hole in the upper between the two mounting holes, which would be covered by the bases. Then again, I have never seen the GSXR ones up close. Can you fill me in?
  19. So that's how they roll in TX, huh? I would have stopped, turned around, and had a talk with the cop, and probably told him to call his superior to the scene or I would, just so we could all chat a bit about it.
  20. OK...what's it gonna take for one of youse that have the old DB adapters to let me borrow them and get a few measurements? You want $ to hold while I do this for a week or so? Fine. Let's talk. I'm open to that.
  21. The 8G's looks like direct pick-ups from the cbr 1000rr. Which don't fit either. Shame, cause I love the way they look. Exactly. The threaded pegs for the mirrors for the cbr1000rr/8thGen face to the ground. Our 6th gen mirror threaded pegs face inward towards the bike. Seems like a job for some sort of simple adapter, if only there was one.
  22. Any movement on this, Corner Carver? THEN what would we have to talk about??
  23. Thanks for the clarification. Let us know what you find out that works best. Still interested in hearing about how you modded the GSXR mirrors to fit, with a few good fotos too, if you choose.
  24. Hmmm....do the GSXR mirrors come with LED lights, hence the need for any of this stuff? Or maybe (once I hear how the install/mod went) they also come non-LED, so I won't need to sweat all this hot & sexy diode/resistor talk?
