  5. I know the VFR is heavier, but how does it handle now compaired to the 954? Better handling and brakes on a VFR would really be a plus to me.
  6. Unfortunately, a can of spray paint will never do the job of a good quality spray gun, but it is much more convenient. I am told that at least 50 feet of hose is required for a good quality job, and 150 feet of hose is recommended. This supposedly removes all moisture from the line to go with the water vapor separator. Others here can tell you more if you are interested, but it sounds like you are already finished, and the results are good. ???
  7. No problem. I did mine on a 94, so same model as yours. You must loosen the bracket and route the wires under it, then it fits. Take a close look at the picture, it does work. Maybe it's a little late for you now, oh well.
  8. I can't help you much. I bought it at a little electronics shop called IC Electronics here in So. Cal. I would search your local area for electronic shops, and yes, Radio Shack stuff is crap!
  9. I reposted the picture. I hope it helps.
  10. I will try to remember to post new pictures when I get home. Hey Miguel, are all the old pictures gone?
  11. Just make sure everything is clean and dust free. After you have done it once it will be a walk in the park. I bought a set of long allen sockets and an impact wrench to get the lower bolt out, but that is not necessary to do a spring swap. :wheel:
  12. My bike will be available at MTCtrackday at Willow Springs Oct 29, 03. Are you going Randal?
  13. ULEWZ: my winter recipe is going to be this: - Get the lower/outer tubes from a VTR. - Get the 4-piston brake calipers of a VTR. - Get the larger master cylinder of a F4. - Throw in a '94-'97 VFR. - Shake well. Result: VFR with better brakes and impressive front-end look. All parts should bold right on. Cost is minimal. Please take lots of pictures when you do this. I am very interested in what you are doing. Instructions with a parts list would also be great. :p
  14. Leave it to Randal to find the perfect solution to the VFR lack luster brakes. I wish there was a way to upgrade my 94 brake system by replacing the brakes with larger calipers and master cylinder. The back is just fine as I rearly use it. Then all I would need is the 840 mod.
  15. My old switch broke, so I replaced it and took some pictures. To install a push-to-talk switch, Buy the smallest momentary microswitch you can find and perform the following: 1. Remove two screws from choke/horn/turn signal electrical housing. 2. Push out small panel piece by compressing retaining edges. 3. Drill out a hole between the retaining edges just big enough to put your switch in. 4. Run the cable to be hooked to the switch through the same opening as the existing cable. Route it under the gold bracket in the picture and tighten it down. 5. Install the switch in the hole and tighten the mount nut. 6. Cut heat shrink tubing and install on cable wire ends. 7. Solder cable wire end to each terminal and position and melt heat shrink. Verify the switch contacts before installing with a multi-meter. Make sure there is no continuity between pins with the switch relaxed, and that there is continunity with the switch closed. 8. Put the housing back together making sure the small plastic tip from the housing is installed in the hole in the clipon. 9. Install the 2 screws to secure the housing. 10. Now you are done. Note: I used the cable from the motocom switch that I had previously bought and cut off the switch portion. This enabled me to use a cable with a din connector (looks like a ps2 mouse connector) already wired up. Good luck. :D Click image to make it larger.
  16. I thought I was the only one that did that!! It works for me. :D
  17. Here is the scoop: ? SM-3 unit is designed as a plug-in replacement for most Hondas, including: ST1100, Valkyrie, Valkyrie Interstate, Shadow, VFR and Suzuki bikes. ? SM-3 uses a computer chip to cancel the turn signals- no relays. signalMinder has three selectable timeouts; 15, 30, or 45 seconds. ? By attaching the two optional turn signal wires, you can convert ALL the turn signals to running lights. Using the dip switches you can select the running light intensity to be 1/2 or 1/3 brightness. ? If the two signal wires have been installed signalMinder has a hazard light option built in. When you activate the RIGHT turn signal three times in succession all the turn signals will flash like a hazard light. ? There's also an input pin for brake switch. If you supply 12 volts from the brake switch of the bike, the counter will suspend until the brakes are released. This feature allows an override for those times when you are waiting at the signals to make a turn and do not want the time-out to cancel the flashing. This feature is OPTIONAL - your choice to connect.
