  1. Thanks! "That subframe tho" Haven't sat down to think about the logistics of that move yet! Maybe a distant future project. 🙂 Altho at my age I have less future than I do past...haha
  2. In "assembly mode" This is going to open a can of worms... Stupid lighter..! That's all I got...
  3. Insane! Bubba Shobert and that sound sold me on my 86 and that sound at the track..."WTF was that!"
  4. took a minute to wrap my head around that one... Love to take one of those apart...haha takes titanium keepers to the next level
  5. If the vtec was active all the time mho the engines wouldn't run on the bottom. Back when I had a job at a place called Transportation Research Center (a testing facility for Honda R&D North America) I got to take the vtecs apart post testing (the Japanese associates called this "zimbara") those engines used the hydraulic pin to activate a second follower on a more aggressive profile lobe on the cam.
  6. Did their motorcycle VTECs back then actuate a larger cam profile or valving?
  7. So... I'm not a paint person. Got the cowl stay painted, the can says 6 days for the paint to cure but I don't think I'll be putting a clear coat on, I was having such a hard time; the part is so complicated to paint, I have it heavy in some places and light in others! I suck with a spray can...
  8. Just busting your balls a bit... thanks
  9. Should I clean, scuff and prime everything or spot prime? Clear coat? I do have a can of the 2K you mentioned somewhere... I understand the 48 hour pot life thing. I will be doing all the stays including my home made set in black. Maybe a set in polished w/clear. Can of worms! It all started with this.... Thanks Captain...preciate-cha... bike builders are an annoying lot... haha
  10. @Captain 80s is there a specific "black" paint to use on the cowl stay? Thanks
  11. Why did I ever doubt the Captain... I gave my sacrificial volt meter a full pardon...reassembled, tested and shelved. Yea, that mod is cool as is, my heart's just not into pursuing the face alterations any further...later maybe. I am going to paint the bracket and I thing the cowl stay comes off for a paint job as well. This aught to be fun... haha
  12. Welcome to the forum Big. Check out the downloads page for the service manual in your flavor. As for the oil level window... I got nothing.
  13. This is what happens when I apply voltage to the Stock "Temp" meter.
  14. SEBSPEED thank you so much! I am on it! Whats the secret for removing the gauge hands?
  15. Or... Can I turn this into a volt meter? @Grum Black out the "Temp" color fill the danger zones and reassemble with original lens. escutcheon ring.
  16. I would still want to change the lettering color to orange.
  17. or someone with a vinyl machine make the black overlay...
  18. Thanks Terry, excellent idea. I will look into that. I was just checking out little paint brushes too as the Captain suggested Do they make a see thru masking tape...lay the tape down, cut out with a fine knife and spray???
  19. Waiting for a couple terminals to come to make up the wire harness. Yup...not quite done, just in thinking mode. I'm a retired old man...I don't need something to do, I need a problem to solve. How do I make my volt meter face match the stock gauge set????? The Honda Marine gauge has a alum. face with black then white paint applied. The VFR gauges have clear plastic with a layer of white, then the orange lettering and slashes applied in separate blocks then the black is allied all on one side of the plastic. How do I get those needles off the gauge mechanism and back on and timed correctly?
  20. I have a couple blemishes on the blue portion of the tank, one is a scrape that has been worked smooth. (really not stressing about too much, the other is a small group of grooves at what would be the left control impact area, that area has some bondo (you can get a magnet to want to stick) . The grooves have been painted over and are not noticeable but if the decal goes over it, it will want to puncture. Here is a picture will you compare on your bike when yogurt time? Thanks and the scratch
  21. Thanks "b" I had WSBK two summers ago no complaints. Maybe I'll consult with my Ministeress of Finance...
  22. MotoGP looks to be twice the price of WorldSBK If you could only choose one...Which would it be?
