  1. That's very helpful, Thank you. I've been reading as much as I can about cleaning up aluminum engines (without disassembly and powder coating) and your advise is the best yet. I was afraid to go at it with sandpaper so I will follow your lead. I will post some pics in my rebuild string as I go along. I am going to investigate possibilities of protecting the aluminum from rampant oxidation after the cleaning is done. Not sure there is a solution other than an occasional wipe with wd-40 or something like that. Thanks again!
  2. Very nice work! Thanks for the video. I currently have the engine out of my bike and started cleaning the oxidation off the block and heads with phosphoric acid (aluminum jelly). It is working well but it is still pitted and I am hesitant to use an abrasive or wire wheel on it yet. I am wondering how you cleaned the block and heads?
  3. That is the best looking "naked" vfr engine I have seen. Is it powder coated? Is that clutch cover functional? Awesome!!

    My Ride 4

I posted a long time ago about some loops I made that fit around the helmet locks under the seat and then stick out just enough to use as a bungee anchor point. I used reinforced straps for rock climbing to make the loops. Using the loops prevented the bungee cords from rubbing against the plastic. Sorry, I can't find the old post or pictures.
