  2. I found a harness off of a Canadian model, but I can't find if they are the same as the USA models. Does anyone know? Did Canada have HISS?
  3. Thanks Grum, the ABS models had different wiring, including a second fuse box just for the ABS. I know the wiring changed in '06, and I have now gone through all the components that plug into it, and it looks like they all interchange from 06 to 09, so I think any harness from then will work, ABS of course. My harness has a visibly melted ground wire, for over 18 inches in the harness. Could I repair it? Yes, but I'd rather replace it. Knowing that it's completely fixed, peace of mind, way less work, wanting it to all match original, that is where I am at.
  4. The 5th gen ('98-'01) exhaust should work right onto the header you have. You will just need to fab up a mount coming from the passenger footpeg/bracket. Possibly the 8th gen, the exhaust diameter is the same, but I'm not sure if the angle is the same.
  5. I've looked everywhere before I posted, hopefully someone can help. I just got a '07 ABS model (even a RWB, yay!), and the previous owner seemed to let the smoke out of some wires. 😒 The main harness has a ground wire completely melted and a few things aren't working, but most are. I think he replaced the front harness & made some other repairs. The thing I need some assistance on is a wiring diagram for the 06+ ABS models. I want to buy a harness, hopefully off ebay, but there are almost none for my bike, but currently there is an 06 on there. The 06, 07 & 08/09 models have different part numbers from Honda for the harness, but I bet they interchange, other than ABS vs non-ABS. Does anyone actually have a Service Manual that can confirm the 06+ ABS models all has the same wiring? Thanks!

  8. How about a 3-spoke for the rear (just for you Rush2112!) and fit a F4i 3-spoke front wheel (which is basically a direct bolt on & lighter) What do you think?
  9. gll429, unfortunately I haven't seen any car wheels that style you want, sorry. I was thinking that most would want 6-spoke wheels, so that VFR's would finally have matching wheels front & rear. I do like the Buddy Club wheels, light (for a car) and a good match to the VFR front, I will put those on my list of ones to possibly use.
  10. Rotas are the lightest I can find, and I wasn't planning on doing 5-spoke designs because the stock wheels are 5-spoke. What styles are you looking for? And you gll429?
  11. Here are just some styles I could do. I think the weights would be real close to the same as stock, and I wouldn't consider the VFR wheel super heavy, 13.1 lbs for a 3rd, 5th & 6th gen.   13. I would be modifying car wheels, so no engineering. The modifications needed are land speed racing proven, narrowing them that is. I have one test wheel just about ready and was hoping to get some feedback before making up a couple more to sell. The cool thing is, I have found many styles that would look great on the back of VFR's, including a 6-spoke to match the fronts!
  14. I am looking to produce custom rear wheels for the VFR's, anyone interested? Weights will probably be the same as stock, I might be able to do a little lighter, it will depend on the style of rim. Should be looking around $600, powercoated. Several style possible, what get's your interest?

    Unfortunately, I can't do the decals, you need a printed decal. Mine are just the cut style, I can overlay them, but a printed decal is ultimately what you want. Thanks for the recommend!
  16. There seems to be a lot of questions about rear wheel and tire sizes and fitment, here is the answers to all who inquire, please correct me if I make a mistake. Rear wheel ID picture vfrwheels.JPG 3rd Gen wheels, 90-93, the infamous 8-spoke Size: 17"x5.5" OE Tire: 170/60-17 Tire recommendations: 180/55-17 is the best handling tire you can put on a 5.5" rim, nothing else. The 170 will not put as big of a rubber contact patch down when cornering hard. The 190 tire will be too big, not as stable handling in hard cornering. Fitment: Will fit all VFR's 90-09 without any problems Weight: 13.1 lbs 4th gen, 94-97 Size: 17"x5.0" OE Tire: 170/60-17 Tire recommendations: 170/60-17 is recommended for the 5.0" rim, a 180 will work, but won't be as stable handling in hard cornering. Some may argue this, the 180 will work, but I think the 170 is a better choice. Fitment: Will fit all VFR's 90-09 without any problems Weight: approx 12 lbs, please confirm me this. 5th & 6th Gen, 98-01, 02-09 Size: 17"x5.5" OE Tire: 180/55-17 Tire recommendations: 180/55-17 is the best handling tire you can put on a 5.5" rim, nothing else. The 170 will not put as big of a rubber contact patch down when cornering hard. The 190 tire will be too big, not as stable handling in hard cornering. Fitment: Interchangable between 98-09 no problem, and will fit 90-97 with notching modification to hub mounting surface. I have put the CBR929 shock on my '02, here is how I did it. 3 problems you run into: 1) Shock length is wrong, too short, I made a top mount like they are doing on the 5th gen and I think the F3 shocks, I don't remember the measurement, but it needed to be longer, and I like to to my own calculations anyway so I know it is correct. I also made a longer one to raise the tail of it 2) The brake proportioning valve bracket is in the way of the reservoir on the shock, you need to cut it and make a new piece to weld in. The picture trys to illustrate it. You have to at least undo the top subframe mount and pull this thing out of there. Cut it, weld a new piece in it, paint it, put it back in, sounds easy, it is a little work though. Sorry, no pics from my bike, it is a little work to pull out and didn't take any before I put it in. vfrmod.GIF 3) Shock reservoir hits the brake lines next to the rear cylinder head. There is no way to take a pic of this, but the reservoir is really close to the cylinder head, I just had to push the metal brake lines that were in the way up a little bit, not much room at all, but I did make it work. I tried to flip around the reservoir, you would have to move/cut more stuff. Here is a pic of the compression adjuster, just requires a little longer flat head screw driver. Access to the preload is quite easy from the left side. Rebound adjuster is in the stock shock's position. CBR929 shock on VTEC, showing comp adjuster

  24. As I stated in another thread, I was able to fit the 929 shock on my VTEC. It fit real close to the cylinder head and metal brake lines, but it fit. I did have to modify the bracket that holds one of the brake valve units. And now with a long screwdriver I can adjust the comp and rebound pretty easily.
