Ha ha! Found it. After checking my pants four or five times, tearing up the house, I turned my suspicions on my cat. I suspected that he swept it off the table and was playing with it while my wife and I were at a nightclub. He remained stoned faced despite my ever more tricky line of questioning, but he simply would not confess so I considered waterboarding him. Then my wife reminded me that I had been out to a friend's party and had drank a few beers. I was in my my truck so my bike key might have got tangled up in my truck keys and it might be out there somewhere. I rode out this morning and and after a time I finally found it in the middle of this old paved country road where my truck had been parked. I have since apologized profusely to my cat and have put the electrodes away.

Ok, I'm still not sure. I lost my spare key to my 2004. I bought the VFR brand new in Washington State. Can I just get another key ground or is it chipped or coded or something else? Need to know as quickly as possible. I used to have that little aluminum tag with the number on it and can't find that either. Stuff gets lost around here. Thanks

We always appreciate how hard you try to attend all the various VFRD rallies. Great pictures and what a life it is to have such great bikes VFRs and great country to ride in and great company. What's not to like?- 7 comments

You're manoneter lost all it's fluid! Isn't that more of an issue for a doctor and not a mechanic? :fing02:

I'm with vfruknee, only I don't have a second bike to trade. I would love to do that trip someday. Camping out is fun. Solo riding and camping out in the mountains is refreshing for the soul. Great scenery, thanks for sharing, Miguel.

Every time you post pictures of southwest Colorado I get homesick. What lovely country. When I left Dillon last year I stopped at a brew pub in Gunnison and shortly west of there turned south on SR 149 which goes through Creede and the highway becomes SR 160 at a little town called South Fork. From there I revisited by old haunts in Pagosa Springs, then on to Durango and up the Million Dollar Highway. I can't remember if this place was in Silverton or Ouray, but very busy. Looks like a cross between a mountain man's rendevous and a brewpub. There's a town on 149 on called Lake City. I stopped and gassed up there and chatted with the locals. I learned that there is a popular unimproved dirt road from Lake City heading west to somewhere close to Ouray. From Ouray you can take another such road to Telluride. I was wondering, Miguel, if you ever rode that on your dirt bike?

By the way, those two horses probably have more torque than your new ride . . . just saying! :beatdeadhorse: -

How was the range compared to the 'ole girl? Nice to see the Sangre de Cristo mountains where I used to backpack in high school. We're happy that you're enjoying your new bike. Hope to see you at the PNW meet. -

Cam Chain Tensioner, Without Throttle Body Removal
choco replied to Tightwad's topic in Maintenance Guides
I did mine just before the Summer Summit, the hardest part for me was getting that little flat black metal cover plate out on the rear bank, you have to wiggle it just right. I paid about $55 each for the CMTs and I didn't have to remove the throttle bodies and only removed one hose on the front one. Take time to secure your tank on your seat so it doesn't fall off. Use the keys to take up the length of the new ones and old ones as this makes removal and installation much easier. I used pair of needle nosed vice grips to twist the key but they are light metal and bend easy. Really it was way easier than I thought. -
