This is a prototype of a rear fairing support idea. They willl attach to the new stainless steel plate I fitted to the rear of the undertray.

This is the stainless heat shield Dan devised to keep the undertray cool. It was originally riveted and separated from the aluminum undertray by washers. I had to remove it (and fit additional washers) to clear the button-head cap screws I used to mount things to the top of the undertray.

Another shot of the Lasers' rear mounts, which will attach to the stainless steel plate above, using the captive nut brackets mentioned earlier.

Some things to come. RC51 SP1 forks, lower triple, axle, spacers and wheel, 900RR yellow mudguard (same color code as the Y2k VFR) and 929/954 upper triple clamp. Lurking behind is my prototype xenon retrofit headlamp.

The Lasers will mount to the stainless steel plate above, using the captive nut brackets Dan fabricated and welded onto them. (Unfortunately, sized perfectly for UNC nuts! I will have to grind down some M8 nuts to make them fit.)

  19. The diameter of the stanchions doesn't necessarily correlate to the diameter of the outer tube (which is the part that clamps into the triples). However, based on press releases (always a bit dangerous, in my opinion), the RR's stanchions have always been (and as of 2010, still were) the same diameter as the USD 'Blade stanchions: 43mm. And checking on Ron Ayers, although there was a significant change in 2008, even the 2010 'Blade uses the same slider bushings as the Y2k 900RR, which tells me that the stanchion diameter has not changed. (The conventional-forked CBR900RRs had 45mm OD stanchions.) Ciao,
  20. Don't be so sure...JB says they have an "international distribution network", and JB is surprisingly big in the speedway and grass track world (Northern/Eastern Europe), so I'm sure there is a European distributor (if not a Spanish one). Never used their stuff myself, though. Ciao,

    Forks

You should have a look at 400greybike. It's a UK-based forum dedicated to 400cc imports. You can be certain that at least 50 members have already swapped NC30 forks and the various paths are well known. I haven't looked into doing that, but ISTR that RVF400R forks aren't anything spcial. Ciao,
  22. It depends on which forks/axle you're using with it. Many other parts combinations would probably work with just a bearing swap. Ciao,
  23. I don't know about the car wheel, but FYI Honda SSSA rear wheels seem to have the same offset--at least based on a rather unscientific sampling of the two wheels I had in the garage at the time--exactly the same. I measured from the centre of the wheel to the face of the mounting flange. The two wheels were off a 1987 NC24 (VFR400R) and a 1992 NR(750), which are 4" and 5.5" wide, respectively. If Honda used the same offset on such different bikes, I would have to guess that the other VFR and RVF rear wheels also have the same offset (but I really should check some day!) (The NR wheel does NOT have the same PCD, however.) Ciao,
