    7th Gen. Fender Bob

Pics of the fender bob using the Competition Werkes kit.
  2. From the album: 7th Gen. Fender Bob

This is looking up into the underside of the tail after the Competition Werkes kit is installed. The license plate is also installed, you can see it's slightly larger than the Competition Werkes part. I happened to show the part to my brother before I installed it. The original rivets were barely larger than the holes they were in and he said they were really junky. So he drilled them out for me and replaced them with aircraft rivets. What you see here are the aircraft rivets. I don't have a pic of the original rivets. Lucky me to have a smart brother ;-)

  3. From the album: 7th Gen. Fender Bob

This shows the Competition Werkes stainless steel fender kit part. Other than the original rivets (see explanation for next photo), it's a well made part and is easy to install. Hey, if I can do it ....

  4. From the album: 7th Gen. Fender Bob

The first thing I saw on the 7th gen that I didn't like was that looooong rear fender. Okay, the second thing, after the can. This shows the fender, before 'n after the fender bob. It's much shorter now, which I like. Also, the license plate light no longer extends horizontally as far as it used to. I REALLY like this. Have you ever been behind a CBR or VFR that has the original 2-piece (extended) license plate light? Well I have and it bounces/wobbles all the way down the road which looks CHEAP-O and like it's ready to fall off. Why, Honda? Removing the extender piece of the license plate light came as a pleasant surprise, as I didn't expect this would be part of the kit's instructions. No more bounce/wobble factor. :-D

The mailman, I LOVE the 4th gen. dearly. It's a dream bike. Not sure I can ever part with it.

    2013 hibernation

mello dude, this is the basement, which is usually empty. In winter, I roll the bikes in through the man door in the background. Have to take the door off the hinges and remove mirrors from the 4th gen. You should see my garage, uhh ... it's a little more messy LOL

That white looks awesome. Keeping the wheels clean would not be for me, though ... NOT my favorite job!

    Gear

    Various gear.

This shows the heat shield that's on the bottom of the R saddlebag.
  17. From the album: Gear

Inside, there's an elastic retainer strap in an "X" shape that buckles in the center. Straps can be removed entirely via clips at each corner. The cylinder lock shown on the top surface (with my ignition key in it) comes with sets of tumblers so you can set it up to accept your ignition key.

The new saddlebags went on today. They're gorgeous and Honda did a nice job with fit 'n finish. The practical test will come over the coming 1000s of miles. Attaching these to the bike is extremely simple.
  19. FINALLY!! I got a part # for the color matched hard bags for the '12 VFR. Been bugging Honda corporate since August for this! happy happy happy

  20. Thank you for your comments, everyone. Sorry, I'm just now seeing your comments. @ baketech: hi! and yes, we DO need to ride together again!! I'm working on plans to Alaska this summer with our friend, vmotor and a friend of his ... @rangemaster: Thank you! I had the black media-blasted off of the wheels, exposing bare aluminum. We used media (crushed walnut shells) instead of sand so that the aluminum wouldn't get pitted. Then the wheels were clear coated (baked on) since there was no way I wanted the maintenance of bare aluminum.
  21. Beautifully done photos and looks like a great trip! Thanks for sharing.
