  2. I was just going through the pictures in my gallery and read the comments regarding this picture... Then I came across 04Asphalt's little remark about how many voters were new members... Okay, I'm not the brightest guy in the world, and it wasn't until now that I realized that you're implying that I went out and recruited voters so that I could win? Well, I didn't. And quite frankly, I think it sucks that somebody would think that I took the contest so seriously as to rig the results. Yes, this is old news...I realize that...but I wanna make sure I'm in good standing with the good people of VFRD.
  3. I guess this was on the more eastern part of 136...prolly about an hour west of Dahlonega. I think we rode the majority of 136...not sure about that though, I'd need to look at a map to really give ya a good answer.
  4. This picture was taken in Suches, GA...right off of Hwy 60.
  5. Thanks. Yup, loaded down with soft bags and all...coming back from a trip to GA, NC, and SC.

    Porteau Cove

Slick. Nice scenery in the background.
  8. VFR_LA, obviously not everybody is going to like the same picture...and thats fine with me. Like I mentioned above, I too am surprised that so many have voted for this picture since every one of the finalists are great photos. I too have wondered if it would look good in B&W, but haven't spent the time to play around with the picture to find out.
  9. VFR_FLA, Let me see if I can answer some of your questions without sounding artsy-fartsy (which I am not)... I'm no professional photographer, its not even a hobby of mine. But I did take a class back in highschool (14 years ago, sheesh, am I getting that old?) that taught a little bit about photography. What I remember most about that class is the Rule of Thirds. Basically, the rule or guideline is that you divide the frame up into thirds horizontally and/or vertically, putting your subject at the intersections or on one of the dividing lines. Go here for a better explanation: http://www.silverlight.co.uk/tutorials/com...ose/thirds.html With this picture, I tried to make the VFR take up the left third of the frame. It actually ended up being a little more than a third, but you get the idea. The road takes up the other 2/3rds. And really, now that I'm thinking about it, its almost as if the road is really the subject of the picture. Basically the first thing you see is the bike, and then your eye catches the white line of the road and follows it off into the background. I really like how the road disappears around the corner and into the fog. The fog really adds a lot of mystery to the shot, which is kinda why I like to sport-tour...I like to find out what's around the next bend. Why did I cut off half of the bike? I think the 6th Gens look incredible from a front view, but as I framed the picture in the camera, it just looked better if I cut off half the bike. So there ya go. A few explanations. Most of the reasons why this picture turned out so well for me can be summed up on two words: dumb luck. I'm really surprised that so many people have voted for this picture. I didn't even expect to be in the finals due to all the other cool shots I've seen on this board.

    Blue & Gold

I love the way the blue contrasts with the yellow flowers. Great shot.
  11. Sweet shot. I love how the yellow stands out from the deep green of the forest and the blue sky.
  12. From the album: Tyrroneous

This was taken back in October of 2004. The whole time I was up in the hills, it was rainy and foggy. I was determined to get some riding in though, albeit at a slower pace. It was still fun. One of the things I like about this shot is the way the curve disappears into the mist.
  13. Looking forward to reading this one.
