I could hear the Hardley Madeits start up from here. Well that's because "loud pipes save lives"!!!!! I saw it on a shirt a Hardley riding was wearing on the ferry so it must be true............ Sorry to hear about the deer too.

yycviffer +1 home safe and sound. Hey, did anyone else getted hosed yesterday south of the ferry on the 3A down to Creston????? There was a woman with a garden hose at the end of her driveway squirting the road when she heard a bike coming!!! WTF and I was doing the speed limit. Hit the hot springs out of Nelson, and spent a relaxing evening in Fernie at the ski hill. Came home today. Great seeing everyone and thanks all for making the trip memorable for my other half. Looking forward to the next and + 23 on the thanks to the funkmiester for all the planning. I have to admit I'm kind of on a down today. I've been looking forward to this since Novemember and now it's over all ready. Jeremy

Morning, So I have been trying to insert an image into a message without much success. (read none) Using firefox, I can control V it in but when I hit post, it just disappears. There is also no widget to insert a picture in the tool bar which would be really helpful. Thanks

So What Happened To All The Old Posts?

Thanks Cogs, Hopefully no one will get irritated with asking questions that there used to be answers up to................................. -
Having just adjusted a few clearances at just under 80,000 Km, I want to encourage you guys TO check them. I checked them at 45ish thousand Km and one was only slightly out of spec so I left all well enough alone. This time I had two intake valves on Cyl #3 sitting at 0.003", which is obviously a little tight. I have heard people say that they checked them and were good so never again, but I think it is even more important to check them as the Km's on the bike start to creep up. Is it a bit of a pain?.......yes. Is it more of a pain to pull cams and reshim?.........Deffinitely. Valves and valve seats do wear.

Hey Guys, I could very well be me but, I was in the fifth gen forum and the oldest topic was started in 2014 on page 19. What about all the good info prior to that? I was looking for VTR cooling fan info and came up empty I think because it does not go back far enough. Thanks

No worries mate, I am just looking at copying another canuck who has already done it, so not forging any new ground.

5Th Gen Valve Adjustment. . .valves Louder Afterward?
yycviffer replied to SlimWhitey's topic in Maintenance Questions
Hey Guys, Great post here. I checked my valves at 36,000ish and am now doing them again at 78,000ish Km and found quiet a few tight ones. Intake on cylinder #3 being the worst. (0.003" !!!) Was trying to figure how things would get tighter until I read the post about seats and valves wearing and it made perfect sense. Great info. Guess I'm pulling cams................................................. -
Well done 3dcycle! I too was looking at this when the bike came out and scouring through all the parts fiches. The $1000 bucks for parts kinda kiboshed the plan when my bike is only worth 3 grand total. (That said i just put about $800 in bags into it, so where is the logic there!) Kudos again and I love it.

Well that tid bit of info would have been nice to know 8 months ago !!!!!!!! Where were you? (just harassing ya) I did this on my own using 6 gen mounts.

Holy Hot Thighs Batman, Heat Control On A Fifth Gen
yycviffer replied to highsider989's topic in Fifth Generation VFR's
Well having read through this, I couldn't help but reply. I will agree whole hardedly with you. Yes it gets hot, AND yes I have Aplinestars MXR boots and textile pants I wear ALL the time. My right leg and foot are almost always noticeably warmer than my left. The only exception I would say is on the highway. I have thought about going the wrap route but have read a bit about the rusting issues with moisture entrapment. The ceramic coated or stainless header option may be the way to go. One could also wrap either of those and not worry about the corrosion issue. In stop and go traffic is brutal. There have been times when I turn the engine off to generate less heat while I'm waiting. -
Anyone have any real world experience with this? Read a little bit on a Duc forum and a Guzzi forum. Yes its just a spoofer but its also considerably less $ then a Power Commander or a Rapid Bike.
