For the fifth gen guys.....what slip on are you running and did you have any difficulty widening the pipe to fit the increased diameter of the VFRD header?  I have a low slung Yoshimura for touring purposes.  Not only is it too quiet but it tore a bit when the hydraulic pipe expander was used.  Thanks.

No problem with my Staintune. Though the first place I contacted said no, it couldn't be done. The 2nd place is was a motorcyle/muffler shop. The owner warned me about tearing but the highly experienced technician was confident.  I don't remember if he torched it, but it did take him many passes to get it perfect.

With the expanded Staintune, I found the stock 50mm clamp did not fit well.  I purchased a 54mm clamp from Staintune and the fit is much better.

Hope you get your Yoshi sorted out!

For folks who have bought from Jack, did you ge the universal 2 way or 4 way mounting bracket for the 5th gen? Thanks!

Bought and installed an 847 super kit from Jack, no bracket used. Mounted the 847 on the subframe, some drilling required.

Thanks to MadScientist for the original document at https://www.vfrdiscussion.com/index.php?/files/file/230-5th-gen-super-high-resolution-wiring-diagrams

I slightly modified MadScientist's file “VFR Wiring Layers hires full.png” to fit “tabloid” sized 12x18 paper

I took the modified file “VFR_5thGen_Wiring_Color_MadScientiest_Modified.jpg” to a local print shop, print it on 100 lb. 12x18 paper and then had them laminate it for around $6.

Though the black and white service manual wiring diagram is complete, it can be a challenge to follow the correct line. The colored wiring diagram in the Haynes Manual is good but not as detailed as the wiring diagram in the service manual.  The laminated color wiring diagram is now wall art in my garage.

  4. Swapping fairings on a VFR is not too difficult and much easier than swapping motorcycle parts.  Separating the upper cowl from the inner half cowl is probably the hardest part as you have to be mindful of the side clips on the upper cowl that insert into the inner half cowl.  They are easy to break.  You can see the clips once you remove the side fairings.  A fairing swap also allows you to pick the best panels for your bike that are all now NLA.  I suggest you have a set of fairing clips fairing clips and well nuts well nuts.  It's easy to break 20+ year old fairing clips and some 20+ year old well nuts may need replacement.
My '99 is red and piece by piece I'm sourcing yellow
OEM fairings.  Not easy to find.
Also, having a VFRness may still lead to R/R failure.
A Shindengen SH847 will solve the problem for the bike's life.
Have fun with the new yellow bike!

I'm using the map but plan on having one custom made.

  6. Removed Heat Shield

Thanks, compared to my old 2000.5 Aprilia Mille R, this set up does not bother me.  I have some titanium wrap that Gig suggested just in case.  I'm a safe lane splitter so I'm always moving and that helps. Once in a while in heavy city traffic when the engine is running at 220 I can feel some heat, though not enough to do anything about it.

Loading Maps to PC3 Model 111-410

I could not get a map to load without the 9v adaptor.  Like you, I was able to wake the PC3 with the bike turned on (not running), but would get an error message. I tried to with the bike running and found the same error. Problem solved with the battery adaptor.
