Thanks guys! It is a 3rd gen, 1990. Not sure about changing the paint. I have a full set of fiberglass fairings for my *other* 1990 model. But I have to fix that one...it was torn down by a guy to fix...but he didn't really put it back together. It does have the 8 spoke. Love the bike, and in 90, 91, 92, 93 spent a lot of time cleaning the white 8 spoke. I can't wait to ride some more!

Ok, so bike is still on the Abba stand. Our weather is back to rain, and is heading toward the 40s and 30s Farenheit! So, I keep it on the Abba stand for such great portability. I should be able to ride this weekend. So if I can get a good paint job, this should be awesome!

Hey y'all. Long time since I have posted. I got a 3rd gen original seat off ebay UK, and head them send it to Top Sellerie. The full reconditioning includes new foam and custom cover. The cost was 230 bucks plus 133 shipping to US. They did a GREAT JOB! Can't wait to put it on and go for a ride. Turn around was a little over 1 month. I'm buying a house, so wasn't really thinking about it...and it's winter here. Here's some pics

CF, I actually didn't get to it today! I had a honey-do list... I did decide to fix a broken tab on the annoying V piece. I epoxied a split ring for keys to the trimmed hole, then used some 2 part silicone putty to build up the tab. Then I got the idea to epoxy over the silicone. Better than nothing?

I will. Bike is currently on the Abba stand...new front wheel, brakes (Brembos! Stainless lines, Brembo axial "Gold line" master), rear shock...but I am very pleased with the headlights. I bought generic dust covers on Amazon, and could only install the lights with fairing off. I bought a spare headlight unit, and have some projectors that I will toy with retro fitting, but seriously...the LED s are fantastic

Also found some hex button head screws from 318 stainless. Just gotta get some black plastic washers.

Hey, got some really nice LED headlights, the kind with the little shields to make them work in regular reflectors. Popped in red LED for the dash. Changed the coffin screws to torx stainless steel numbers. Put some mirror extenders on. New fork springs and oil. Any of y'all use "Bondic"? It's a UV cure epoxy, they give you a little LED pen light. An LED flashlight for finding pet urine (brand name "PeeDar") works better.fixed the annoying V plastic too.

CMSNL still has some, but you have to search the model year. I have successfully used stainless shoulder bolts from McMaster Carr. I think they are M6. But the bolt isn't the biggie, it's the sleeve. I just ordered 10 of them from CMSNL at 8.96 euros each.

Also good advice. Thanks Yoshi. I have been off of here for so long, because not having my VFR was just heartbreaking. Good to be riding again!

A treasure trove of unobtanium bits for a 3rd gen
Jmmymc750 replied to shrek's topic in Third and Fourth Generation VFR's
Hey man, sorry about the accident. Never say never, but for now, it may be the right move. Where are you in New Orleans? I used to work for Semolina's over on Clearview, up until Katrina. That's when I went back to school. I just finished school last year, and the year before, got back on a bike after a few years off to concentrate on grades, etc. My VFR was electrically challenged while I lived over in Belle Chasse, but I rode my Yamaha XT600 over to work all the time. Yes, people are crazy drivers, especially in New Orleans. Vets boulevard? Holy...crap. I had a hip replacement a few years ago, while in school, forcing the sale of my KLR650. Man, I love 2 wheels. Deal with your injuries now, see a good osteopathic doctor, and when the time comes, maybe you can ride again. It never goes away, I don't think. The injury pain, or the need to ride. If you are selling the stuff...maybe I can come get some. I would love to by your 92...but I am having a VFRD guy *refurbish* my 1990 model. It has been...expensive and expansive. But, it nears fruition - frame and swingarm are at the powdercoater, he is machining a custom triple setup for a GSXR600 front end, he should be painting my Italian fiberglass fairings from MotoXRicambi (paint R147, Italian Red) in the next week or so. Then I will have my beloved 100k+ original owner VFR750 back. Chin up. Truly sorry about the accident. But see what you can make of it! I may be the only person that came out of katrina in 05 better off. It wasn't easy, and I took my FEMA check and paid tuition to start back to school. All my dreams (when I say all, I mean the only ones I had!) have come true. School worked way better than managing Semolina's! Good luck!
