Lee 2002 217 Posted August 20, 2013 That brings back memories to me. My grandfather left the Navy after WWII and served the Army in civil service at Ft. Leavenworth. It was always a very big deal when we went to see him on-base. We had to dress in our go-to-church clothes because we would always dine at the officers club. All the information from the DEW Line came through Ft. Leavenworth at one point in time. During the early years of the Viet Nam war much of the satellite communication from the theatre to North America downlinked to Ft. Leavenworth.Although better known for the disciplinary barracks, Ft. Leavenworth is home to the Command and Staff College. Quote Link to comment
Member Contributer The mailman 259 Posted August 21, 2013 I just spent some time last week at the Northern Wisconsin Veteran's Memorial Cemetery. These special places always bring out incredible emotions. Beautiful pic. Quote Link to comment
