Guest awlittle Posted August 28, 2007 Awesome pic. Thought it was 191 in AZ at first. Was the road as good as it looks? Quote Link to comment
melvis 3 Posted August 28, 2007 Ohhh nooo, rt 49 is, ahh, horrible! Too many curves, yes, far too many curves, and the scenery is way too distracting, potentially dangerous... and you wind up in nifty little Sierra mountain towns with friendly people and the surface is usually too grippy as well... Guest milesbandit Posted August 28, 2007 California 49 is a GREAT road. Thing is, in Northern California and Southern Oregon, there are a score of great roads, usually with little or no traffic. I haven't ridden that much east of the Rockies on a bike, so I can't compare from personal experience; nonetheless, I'm grateful to live in motorcycle heaven. Great motorcycle vacations start about a mile from home and continue in any direction. Did I mention the weather? Soon as I get my new chain and sprockets installed, I'm off to start the fall riding season. My favorite! Don't move here, though. We have bears. You can visit. Quote Link to comment

Also 88, Carson Pass, off of 49. I rode that a couple of weeks ago, then up 49. It's been years since I went over Carson pass, it's now my favorite. Quote Link to comment

It is all good...........mostly. Finally did a sampling of CO last week. What a country!!! Maybe a comparison report is in order? Quote Link to comment
Guest goodhawk Posted August 29, 2007 So if ya wanted to go from Yosemite to Lassen, 49 to ? ( west side) or 395 -89 ( east ) ?? just preliminary, 2 or 3 days fun ride, not ' pushing it' . . . I don't even know how far it is, 400 mi? might be renting a BMW in San Fran next June. Oh - good time to go, I'm thinkin like June 10 -20 ? too cold in Mts , 55 deg too cold fer me.?? Then maybe you should outline a route and post for comments in the Western Section-West Planned Rides My Last Sierra/Lassen/Yosemite trip report is on VFRD - I really liked Lassen BTW. 2007 Sierra/Lassen Trip Report Here is a repost from my original 2006 VFRD Sierras Report which also includes a Springtime 07 swing in the Southern Sierras. 2006 Sierra and 2007 Southern Sierra Trip Reports Quote Link to comment
