czargee
How do I put this back together again? The rear part of the seat doesn't lock on place due to the metal piece coming off, see pic below. I figured that the cable runs through the metal piece but not sure how it should be set up. Is there another piece missing? I do have the bolt that goes on top. Help is appreciated! Member Contributer Duc2V4 Posted October 24, 2015 Member Contributer Share Posted October 24, 2015 I think it was Dutchy that had a similar issue where the spring and cap that holds the spring in place popped off. Inside that channel in your pic will be the return spring and there should be metal plate (cap) that holds it in place.
ChuckG
Mine has disassembled itself a couple of times in the past 12 years. Fortunately all of the parts seem to stay in the plastic trays under the seat and not disappear on the road. It's a little awkward to hook the cable onto the part while holding the 3 pieces together then screwing it into place (I think I've also screwed the piece into place then attached the cable too but there's not so much tension (at least on mine) that either way is particularly easy or hard). Good luck.
Member Contributer Egg on Leggs Posted November 3, 2015 Member Contributer Share Posted November 3, 2015 I was under the saddle of my '03 vtec the other day and noticed the latch screw was loose. Could this be another side stand type scandal. :-)
