fabio222
Hi guys, Last night I turned on my headlights to go home and they flashed on for about a second before then going off. I stopped the bike and the parking light was still on, as we're the rear lights. Headlights, be they dipped or full beam, were not working however. Last week I fitted heated grips to the bike and wired them into the rear light feed (brown wire) so that they would only come on when the lights were switched on (prevents me running down the battery if I forgot to turn them off). The heated grips worked fine on the ride last night though. The LEDs did their self-test when I switched on the lights at the start so that all seemed OK. The lack of headlights has made me suspicious even though I did 250 miles this weekend with working headlights and heated grips. It might be just a fuse perhaps? Any ideas? Member Contributer Dutchy Posted October 15, 2014 Member Contributer Share Posted October 15, 2014 Hello Fabio, what did you use to tap into the rear light? These gawfull things? better go for
fabio222
I just cut the brown wire just behind the battery (within its harness where it goes from the right side of engine, under a section of the subframe, to the left side and then back to the ecu and rear lights). I then soldered in the heated grip positive wire, wrapped it all up with insulation tape then. If that connection was bad I'd have thought the rear lights would stop working but they've been fine, even last night. I mean, the front bulbs hardly blew at the same time. That'd be a major coincidence.
