Member Contributer burnes45 Posted July 10, 2014 Member Contributer Share Posted July 10, 2014 Have new to me 97 with 39k on her. On acceleration low RPM can hear "chirping" "tweeting" noise at lower RPM. May be there at higher RPMs but may not be able to hear it. Any ideas?? Driving me crazy!! If it's normal then I'm good {PAIR valve??] If not then any suggestions would be appreciated. Can not hear it unless its under a load so I can't pinpoint it while riding but sounds like from front engine, exhaust area? thanks for any help. Member Contributer Rush2112 Posted July 10, 2014 Member Contributer Share Posted July 10, 2014 Some bikes with a Nikasil or composite metal cylinder wall can make a whirring, chirping kind of noise at low rpms... my V-Star used to do this. I don't have a 4th gen and I love the sound of my gear driven cams so I don't spend much time in low rpms...
Member Contributer vfrurknee Posted July 10, 2014 Member Contributer Share Posted July 10, 2014 There was another thread with similar symptoms, recently, and one rider found sprocket bolts needed tightening. I had a similar symptom and lubing the chain seemed to resolve it. No adjustment was required just needed some lube on the O rings.
