Member Contributer Maddog Hoek Posted September 14, 2012 Member Contributer Share Posted September 14, 2012 Well... i had a partial tip over at a gas station the bike fell against a pillar but the mirror absorbed the fall or so i thought. When i got home i found that the fairing stay was bent. My question is, what is the best way to bend it back and is it salvageable or should i just get a new one? My thought was to heat it up and bend it back into place. It is not very noticeable until i turn the bars all of the way to the right. Thanks for the feedback. SEBSPEED
Take the bodywork off the front to expose the stay, then slip a pipe over it and tweak it. Reinstall front clip to check alignment. Lather, rinse, repeat until it's fixed. Pain in the rear, but a lot cheaper than the alternative!
SEBSPEED
No heat needed, by the way.

Member Contributer CHUCK2 Posted September 15, 2012 Member Contributer Share Posted September 15, 2012 Where is this cowl stay located? Just curious.
Member Contributer Maddog Hoek Posted September 16, 2012 Author Member Contributer Share Posted September 16, 2012 It's the metal sub frame that supports the front cowl and headlights and such. It also supports the mirror stalks. Replacements are from 120 to 170 bucks. I think i just about have this problem licked.
