I just bought the Honda Quickshifter for my 8th gen. The installation instructions seem well written. Those that have done this, can you offer advice or tips for my surgery on the bike?

Did this a few months back. Very simple, most of the time was spent removing/replacing the plastics. Even though my bike was only 6 months old the bottom fasteners under the lower fairing would not come out and 2 eventually broke. Cheap to buy so my advice is don't waste half an hour as I did trying to remove them intact, if they are stubborn just break them and replace.

The hardest part was the fairings (which I'm horrible at). Actually installing the thing was ten minutes. This thing is neat, I'm looking forward to using it a the track.

Its actually possible to install without completely removing the mid-fairing if you plan ahead (at least I was able to).  Appropriate use of a wire coat hanger when it's time to thread the cable through the frame is especially handy.
