  1. has anyone put 91 wheels on a 2004
  2. Anyone know of a US magnesium wheel refurb service? Particularly interested in crack testing and conversion coating...paint/powder coat a plus. I know TPCS in the UK is a good bet, just rather not pay the extra freight costs to ship two sets of mag wheels overseas.
  3. I was wondering what if anyone has done to try to significantly reduce the weight of their 5th gen vfr800. I've seen on different posts that the subframe weighs approx 8kgs and looks simple in design so was thinking if one was made out of aluminium or similar that a few kgs could be saved. Lithium battery would save maybe 2kgs, exhaust about 2-4kgs depending on type. Basically I was interested in trying to get the dry weight of the bike down by 10-15kgs or there abouts without going overboard with exotic and expensive materials. I'm delinking the brakes in the next couple of months as I've now collected the vtr lower legs, cbr954 calipers, suitable master cylinders etc, so I think there will be a small saving in weight from removing all the plumbing, valves and brackets. Welcome your thoughts.
  4. Hi all, I was unlucky enough that a stanley blade went through my, almost-new, back tyre a few days back on the road. I know because I found the blade in the tyre when I removed the tyre from the rim haha! I could barely believe it myself. Anyway now that I am waiting on new tyres I took a good look at my rims and think that they could really do with a paint. It's been in the back of my mind for a while now anyway. That begs the question, do I stay standard and paint them black again? Do I go with silver to match the frame? Do I go with a pale shade of gold to match the brake calipers? At this point in time the pale gold sounds appealing. Seeing as I'll be doing the work myself, I'd be happy enough to try it, see how it looks and then get it done professionally whenever I could save some money for that. The thing is, I've no idea what colour-code/name etc the front brake calipers are. I've a feeling they might close to Ford Champagne Gold which I can get hold of easily here. Any ideas? Indeed any pics of gold or silver wheels and tips on the job would be great. Thanks :)
  5. Okay, since this group is the final authority on modifications and their cool factor, I'd like you all to weight in on a powder coating color choice. I have a local shop that can get me set up at reasonable cost, but I'm debating on two different colors. Currently, my red 02 is wearing silver wheel paint similar to the 03. I had originally thought that I would simply duplicate that color in more durable powder coat. But I started looking around and saw some auto wheels with an anthracite color, and thought that looked pretty good. Here's what I'm looking at:
  6. So I am finally putting my bike back together but I need a new axle bolt for the front I rounded it off because all I had was sae sockets and it was already a mess. Anyone have a 92 vfr 750 that can take wiring harness pictures??
