  1. Ok, my odo was doa, so I bought a used instrument cluster from old Blighty, I'm in Canada. I swapped instrument clusters whole, no mods, and noticed the following strange things: the high beam shows blue indicator when lights are on low beam, and then when on high beam the indicator light is off. The blinker lights are "on" on the dashboard, and then flash when active, otherwise working fine. Finally, the odometer read 6.8miles after a 9.0 miles trip. And the speedo seemed to under represent my speed. Never seemed to go past 40MPH, even though I swear I was doing 50plus. Hmmm, any ideas folks?? I'm thinking the sensor sender on the speedo circuit needs to be matched with the MPH instrument cluster? No idea actually,.... My next move was going to be to take the tach/odo off the british cluster, and insert it into my Canadian cluster...
  2. Hello everyone! new member here, i own a 6th gen vfr800 and my tachometer stoped working... Any ideas on what to check??
  3. Hi guys, I need your help. I decided to change the dashboard to my VFR. I changed the color of the LED backlight, the appearance of the speedometer and the inverse color on the display. But I don't know how to put back the tachometer pointer(needle). I'm not sure how to do it, to show the right rpm... Anyone have any experience and advice?
  4. My regulator got fried and took a few things with it. Looks like I have everything back to normal except my speedo unit needs to be replaced. Im not having an easy time tracking one down. Struck out on kijiji and ebay. It has a mph one on there now but would prefer a kph replacement since I live in Canada. Was also curious if my total kilometers would be reset when I put a new unit in? Thanks in advance for any help.
  5. From the album: MadScientist's Gallery

The screws highlighted in the image hold the speedo, tach, and LCD panel into the gauge cluster as well as provide the electrical connection.
  6. I have undertook the task of rebuilding and modifying an '84 VF500F. I have a wiring question. What does the yellow wire that connects to the instrument cluster do?. I have figured out every other wire on the bike, I am adding an LCD display, HiD Headlight Assembly, and LED blinkers all around. Every wire is labeled and ready for soldering. Except the yellow wire. According to the diagram it connects to one of the ignition coils and one of the spark units. On the other side of the wire though, it disappears off the diagram past a pin connector. Following the wire myself I can see it go into the body of the gauge cluster, but I wont know what it connects to until I take it apart. If anybody has a clue what it is supposed to connect to, please let me know. One sneaky suspicion that may be of use, is the fact that the bike wont start with it unplugged ( I think [many things and do-dads were unplugged] ). This is a link to the diagram http://imgur.com/0zhzloN I think something suspicious is afoot, maybe we should [redacted] into this more. [redacted] are keeping something from us.
