  1. A better solution; come over this spring and you get to ride her yourself....
  2. 176 days have past since that fateful day in August............ Man, it is GOOOOOOOOD to be back on a bike! And WHAT a bike it is.... (Yep, that is why they call it a shake-down run... the rear indicator bolt was not secure...) My familiar stomping ground.. Not exclusively mine though.. Hail to the Chief!!!
  3. No sun today.... Still got some money shots..... Ok, one more farkle then....
  4. Should wait for the sun to come out tomorrow really.... A fellow VFR owner's hobby is REALLY cleaning bikes so I set him to work... Wash, polish, wax, the works All sort of chems and clays were used "working 9 2 5...." 2 tiny marks bottom left where the paint is chipped away... Tank Bag? who knows..... Aye! that slider pin needs a wee rub... Aye, them bolts are a wee bit grotty...
  5. 6. Found some on a Dutch site that has "breakers" https://www.motorparts-online.com/en/honda/vtr-1000-f/1997-2006/front-pipes/201236094 https://www.motorparts-online.com/en/honda/vtr-1000-f/1997-2006/front-pipes-complete/201115366 Shipping might be silly expensive to ship them assembled.....
  7. Check the classifieds for your Firestorm fork (or 4th Gen for that matter) internals to be upgraded... I once fitted CBR600 forks (it had rebound valves) but can't say I noticed much, so if the Firestorm allows better brake calipers, then that may be worth the hassle. I always felt my 4th gen brakes were adequate..... that is until I used the brakes on my SP2......
  8. I felt nuttin' because I wasnae feeling!! You got to fight.... for your right..... to paaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaartyy!!! (tent) I'll be away during the week so I pitched it already; next Friday someone will come to do a proper clean, polish, wax job on her. so in case it rains, we can soldier on... The 190/55 is on, as is a 42T rear sprocket. The tire is taller of course and the 42T meant the rim moved forward as well. I now have very little distance to the lower cowl This is with the rear off the ground, so I anticipate a bit of dremelling....

now there is a name form the past................
  10. Maybe yes, opinions differ I guess. I would have tie-wrapped them, but then again I tie wrap everything.... Like a vurhurgin, shiney and new But, as our mommies taught us, true beauty sits within....
  11. Yeah. them bushing are well past their prime...... as were these (to be replaced with K-tech parts as well) Hello Linda!!!!
  12. Looking good! Salvage complete!!! Stopped by the mechanic today to discuss going +2 up on the rear sprocket and long and behold, they were already fettling her... hussy... Checked that there will be enough "room" for it; the 190/55 is larger (it now has a 190/50) and a larger sprocket mean moving the wheel back a bit. As the chain+sprocket set is on for 3k miles, we'll just put in a new sprocket alone. front sprocket will stay as is, it will want to wheelie enough as is thank you.. The oil in the Ohlins was sticky, so that was well due Good thing they do a lot with Ohlins so a replacement spring was already available. cos this looks like shyte The pre-load adjuster only "did something" near the end of rotations, so that will be services as well New shoes for the old girl John then showed me some really nice Galespeed stuff "that would be nice"... Radial brake/clutch pump+levers and oh yes, rims.... but at 2k I will give them a miss....
  13. A friendly SP'er in NL sent me a bit of white vinyl. Me happy (although there is a tad color difference and I could problably cut it even finer; plenty material left) from to
  14. Aye, looks darker then the Glenfarclas in my cabinet. That's why I am happy that the Speedbleeders from wiremybike came in... :-)
  15. Very nice bit of bling; well it would be for me anyway...... :-)
  16. OK, she's no tourer no.... But with a (constantly updated) POI database of speed cameras in Europa....
  17. Parts from redslut ARE getting scarcer and scarcer............. but a few ones are still up for grabs... Like:

  19. Having established (with JD) that the compression valves I bought of him for redslut will NOT be good for the RC51, I will post them up in the classifieds next. The valves have a bleeding hole; good for fork internal that donot have one already. The RC51-SP already has them (linked to the rebound adjustment that 3rd/4th gens don't have) With it, I will sell the bespoke shimstacks for the compression valves, as well as shimstacks for rebound. The OEM rebound valves are ultimately deemed good enough. AFAIK, RaceTech initially never sold rebound valves but since customers kept asking.... PS: note that JD normally doesnot sell "loose" shimmstacks, so please donot go pester him for it. He is ok with me selling this kit on.
