Yet another SH series regulator is from a Versys 1000 2015-up.

The Yamaha (FJR, FJ-09, etc.) used a mofset FH-020-AA.... they didn't have history of failing.

    I have run the FH020AA for 3 seasons....no issues, it's fine...

----- So hey gang, should I develop a 5th gen SH847 mount plate kit.... similar to the 6th gen?

  2. May as well add to the thread on detailing....... technology marches on...

I keep trying products as they come out, and in the last 6 months or so, Turtle Wax Hybrid Solution products - Shine and Seal, Ceramic Wet Wax, and then the  Graphene Flex wax

come out fantastic on paint  -gloss over the top........

I follow Apex Detail on YouTube, and Brian there does a great job on giving pro tips on detailing......

    Cheerz

  3. Having done the deed...parts is parts.....

    .....Stock 5th gen parts

    > Wheel, axle, spacers, rotors, axle bolt, fender....need fender bracket fab. ( I used to make these.)

    5th clip-ons, triples

    .......VTR Parts

    > Lower fork legs, axle clamp bolts... - I upgraded the springs and valves.

    > Brakes - RC51, F4i, CBR600, 954, match the master cylinder - makes it easy.(mine are RC51)

Custom brake lines (Mine are Spiegler, they are local to me.)

     Notes....

Minor grinding needed on lower area of calipers and lower fork leg mount boss....Top of mount is fine.

    P1010505-1-M.jpg

(Bolt from up top, swing down caliper for areas to work on.)

1mm spacers needed on back side of calipers to get the pistons more centered..

( I'm running a common off the shelf hardware washers, there was a time I was going to grind up some custom washers, but after a while, it didn't seem needed.)

5th gen triples are wider stance vs VTR triple

Don't forget to change the rear master cylinder to 14mm (F4i, RC51, CBR600, VTR)

This job is a delink project too so all that gear comes out.

Some photos are in my gallery

Thx Mello! If you ever run another of your VTR fork for VFR fender adapters, please let me know, I could really use a set

    Thx!

Costs have really gone up on aluminum/machine time.... really a group buy is probably the only way to get prices down to a palatable level.

Overall, I probly taken a loss on this thing...

After many years of using various high quality polish products on my VFR's I feel I've really struck gold with this one. All my motorcycle buddies know how fussy I am with my bike apperance!

Not sure if its available overseas and ok, it is an Australian product(no commercial gain to me). It's just the best and easiest I've found to date.

    Bowden's Carnuba Body Wax.

This product goes on and off sooooo easily AND leaves no annoying white polish residue on your seat or any other black surface.

Bike photo, just given a quick once over polish with this stuff.

    Cheers.:fing02:

I am probably just as crazy about my bike(s) appearance...(I get asked quite often on my 20 year old 5th, "Is that new?")... and I like to try darn near everything to test out how it goes... I admit I have gone down the Ceramic Rabbit hole of products, and they are quite nice. But I do like a good Carnauba product too, and I will have to try the Bowden's if I can get it.

I also have an OCD stash/list of stuff for about any surface cleaning and polish and situation.  A big shout out to Autogeek in Florida for their huge selection of detail products.

    Cheers all..

    BTW -- looking AWESOME Grum!

It amazes me that people still buy them

I am amazed that shops are still selling them.....

Also, recently I was at cyclegear picking up a few things and I end up talking to a BMW guy about to grab one off the shelf.

Gave him the warning about the filters, told him he could go down by using one. He gave me a scoffed look at said,

"K & N is quality" -- very sad, ok bud, sorry I mentioned it. (Ok, die idiot)

I would have loved to see how they filled the braking system at the factory.   It's hard to envision the workers screwing around with all this plumbing and getting these things out the door.  If they had some special equipment for it, I wish I knew what it was . . .

That's an interesting thought.......some kind of power device for sure.

I have several new OEM regulators and with the border shut down trying to get a moffset one might be difficult . All the brand new regulators have the same effect .

Ok Dude, step back....I' m going the blunt route..... first ---- Shit can the OEM R/R!!! It's the heart of a lot of problems.

Next.... replace with either the SH847AA or FH020AA Shindengen R/R from .....www.roadstercycle.com......... products are going across the border fine.

Install with no  OEM connector between the stator and R/R, either solder or a double overlapping butt style connector.

Then ditch the Vfrness. I'm sorry, but it doesn't help, when components decide to die, they are gonna die!

Wire to current art, then we can start from there.

Im in the process of doing an 05 R1 front end swap on my 02 VFR. I started off planning to go the SP2 route, just sourcing the factory parts to make it work. Ended up in a conversation with SebSpeed one day over availability of parts and the ins and outs of what I'd need to complete the setup and he threw the R1 idea at me. He had just got a deposit for a set of custom triples to make the R1 front end work without spacing the wheel or rotors. After about 30 seconds of googling R1 parts and realizing the availability and prices were hands down way better I quickly changed directions and shot him a deposit for the triples. Because of the length difference in fork tubes and the need for clip ons to be above the tree, Sebastian decided to replicate the 954/929 upper tree with a 19mm drop down on the outsides of the tree. This will allow me to run VFR1200 clip ons above the tree and not only be extremely close to factory ride height, but give me hand placement near factory specs as well.  I have accumulated nearly all the big ticket items and Sebastian is almost done with the trees so it wont be long before the VFR goes under the knife! I went ahead and decided to send the forks to Jamie and have him re-spring the front end as I'm a heavy rider in full gear. This will match nicely with my rebuilt/revalved/resprung F4i rear shock.

My bike has 63k on the clock and stock suspension so to say I'm excited to see the outcome of this new setup is an understatement. I ride the bike hard on the street and track so I can't wait for it to actually not fight me during corners!

Sounds great, don't forget to post up photos of the build up and assembly...

I have a 4th gen 750 and have been wanting to convert it to fuel injected but am having trouble finding kits any one got a idea or any feed back about this idea

I understand what you want to do, ....But.... . I owned a 4th gen for 7 years and the carb fueling on it was very spot on, the engine ran sooo smoothly. When I checked plugs, they were the most perfect shade of tan you could want from any engine. ...... IMHO, it would be a shame to mess with what is a great stock fueling setup already.

It was painful watching him break that center stand bolt.😀

I'm with you there, I admit I uttered "Moron" a handful of times as he took things apart. Who takes a bike apart with no penetrate oil at hand... header bolts.... totally bugger up the rear axle etc.....no forethought in disassembly... more etc....(Jeez, I wonder how that torque wrench got broken?)

I think the guys work goes in the "avoid" column.
